Odds ‘n Ends > Per Edition

ODD: CornerStoreComics gave an update yesterday on shipping for DC Universe Classics and Movie Masters; Mattel “should be shipping” DCUC3 “toward the end of this month.” In my grumpily pessimistic view, that means I’ll receive my figures sometime around August 15. Dwaltrip, it looks like you’re gonna win. I’d be very happy to be wrong, though!

END: Sadly, it seems Random Happenstance will be closing for the time being. Googum has some of the best figuretoons out there, and he will be missed.

ODD: Dr. Mrs. Ghostal-to-Be’s bridal shower was a couple weekends ago, and one of the gifts she received off our registry was a Dremel. Needless to say, I’d added that to the list, and fortunately one of the shower attendees had given the task of buying the gift to her husband. I’m now ready to join the ranks of real action figure customizers!

END: This has been one hell of a year for movies for me. I think I’ve seen as many movies at the theater in the past three months as I’ve seen at the theater in the past three years. And I’ve found all of them pretty satisfying. Iron Man, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, The Incredible Hulk, and Hellboy II were all fun, if not necessarily great, and I have high hopes for The Dark Knight.

ODD: What hasn’t been as good is videogames…other than Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Hulk (which I lost interest in), there hasn’t been much for me in the way of videogames in 2008. When the heck does Castle Crashers drop? What are they waiting for? Other games I’m interested in: Too Human, Lego Batman, Fable 2. And of course Gears of War 2.

END: I hung out with a friend over the weekend who spent a good half-hour explaining to me how Netflix was offering this box to stream movies to your TV for $100 a pop. It sounded really cool, but then I read this. Even better!
