Ask Matty round-up, 11/17/08

I decided to skip this round of Ask Matty (mostly to wait for the announcement of Wave 8, so I could ask questions about that). Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, the next round won’t be until December 15.

Other sites had a few questions for this round, though.

The Fwoosh had a few questions about distribution and character selection, but it’s hard not to notice a slight problem with Mattel’s release date estimates:

3. Do you have an update for the shipping times for announced DCUC product?

Series 2 with Jason Firestorm- Nov 2008
Series 5- Nov 2008
Series 6- Late Dec 2008
Toys R Us two packs- Oct 2008
Series 7- Feb 2009

So…is Mattel contracting Doc Brown to deliver the TRU exclusive two-packs to last month? Great Scott!!

DCCollector.com asks about the status of the Super Friends tyke-oriented line:

5. Any news on the Super Friends line? My kids love them but, I haven’t heard much about them lately…

We are looking into future possibilities for more Superfriends figures for both kids and for adult collectors. We know there are a lot of characters fans are interested in finding in this super chunky style. If there is enough fan demand this is something we might be able to do.

I recently started watching (and enjoying) Batman Beyond, and Cool Toy Review asks the longest question ever as to whether we’ll continue to see BB characters in JLU:

Cool Toy Review: We’ve seen photos of JLU figures coming soon like the Old Bruce Wayne and Batman Beyond (by the way is that McGuiness in that suit or Wayne?) Will we see other characters from other DCU programs? I know technically they did appear in the JLU, but really they from Batman Beyond. I love the thought that we could be seeing more from Batman Beyond in the JLU figure style like Blight, Shriek the Royal Flush Gang and so on…I cant get enough of the JLU figures and would love to see it branch out into all the DCAU series. Also is there going to be any repacks of hard to find figures like Deadshot and Big Barda?

Mattel: We are looking into doing additional Batman Beyond packs (and that is Terry in there, we checked). It will all depend on how this pack does at retail. As for Deadshot and Big Barda, we are deliberately spacing out re-releases of these characters to keep the line going. Not to worry, we will get to all the hard to find figures in time!

Legions of Gotham doesn’t allow reproduction of material from their site, but follow the link for the Q&A. The same goes for the Hall of Justice Q&A.

Finally, I’ve been neglecting He-Man.org’s own Q&As with Mattel. Here’s a question from their November 14 round:

7. When the annual preorder is offered, will this also include exclusives from conventions and/or from other vendors?

No. The pre order will only include the “figure of the month”. Originally Faker was going to be an extra figure, but Mer-Man was running late so he will become the March figure. Any extra figures produced for conventions or other retailers will not be part of the annual preorder.

So the good news is, Faker should be available for anyone who wants one. It appears future exclusives won’t work that way, though.

Update: Turns out I missed two more Q&As! Here’s RTM and Kastor’s Korner. Whew…that’s alotta Q&A.

PT–No, not really. My guess was early December, I think, and I stick by that.

  2. So do we even have any idea as to when the two packs will be showing up at TRU?

    -x
