Just in time to not make you think it’s an April Fool’s joke, here’s the PGPoA April 1 edition of Ask Mattel.
POE: In a recent update, you stated that the Guardian figure in Wave 9 will be the classic, not the modern, version because Mattel “did not have tooling available to do both and the vintage version was farther along in the process.” At first glance, the figures look virtually identical (see attached pic). What exactly is the difference aside from the paint apps–i.e., what new tooling would the modern Guardian have required?
Mattel: The modern version had a new head, new belt and new shield.
Will Mattel continue to offer single cases of individual DCUC figures to online retailers for all (non-exclusive) waves?
Yes. We will also offer these on MattyCollector.com starting with Wave 9.
Esbat asks: I have to say kudos for the DC Infinite Heroes line, almost every figure released so far is readily available in most stores that carry it. There are very few if any kind of QC issues with the most recent waves, and the character selection is just peachy keen. My question is: with the upcoming increased articulation for DCIH, will we be seeing any future multi-packs of previously released characters but sporting the newer articulation?
Yes, in time.
Pete asks: A lot of fans will be disappointed if they don’t get a “Metropolis Kid” to finish their “Death and Return of Superman” sub-set. Given the recent legal troubles surrounding the Superboy name, do you have any plans to make a DCUC Superboy figure, or are you even allowed to?
Yes, the Superboy clone from the Return of Superman storyline is part of our contract and we would like to get to him to complete this set!
Mark asks: Are there any plans to release DCUC in UK shops and MOTU through Mattel UK?
All of our DCU product is available for world wide shipping in multiple languages. All you have to do is ask your local Mattel retailer to order some and we will ship them out. We will ship product to anyone in any country who orders it!
Mark
@Motorthing, thats a pity about Skeletors leg….could you not ask Mattel for a replacemnet leg?
I was not lcky enough to get Faker. Just out of curiousity how are you getting the MOTU Classics? Matty does not accept my card….it is only with luck I came in contact with a MOTU Classics collector on ebay and he was able to get me Skeletor and Stratos. I had to pay the scalpers for He-Man and Beastman.
The UK fans should start petitioning Mattel UK to supply MOTUC.
@You_will_forget its their loss.

I've spoken to Mattel UK.
They have no plans to offer DCUC in the UK.
Therefore, if you do ask at Toys R Us they will indeed say "no, they aren't available in this country"
Esbat
Sweet! I really want a well done Batman and Superman. Thats why I've been cherry picking instead of army building a mini DCU to go with my Big DCU.
Motorthing
Mark – I've got all the MOTUC so far – including the infamous skelly with two left legs! Still waiting on Faker to get his lazy, economy posted butt over here though. If there is any justice in the Universe faker will have two right legs – and I can fix both.
Really looking forward to Hordak and MAA but like you wish the darn things weren't such a pricey hassle to get.
Fengschwing
Again, thanks for asking about the UK availability, it's appreciated!
Guess we'll have to order from Matty directly or pay WAY over the odds from Play.
Pity.
Still, thanks for asking Poe.
Mark
Also must say if they ever make DCUC figures of The Freedom Force (Isis, Hercules, Super Samurai etc) I am totally getting them. How cool would a 9" or 10" Super Samurai (or Scarlet Samurai) be….the Horse men could do some amazingsculpts on them.
Mark
@Motorthing….totally agree. If you went in and asked some Toy'R'Us UK worker if they could order in DCUC figures they would probably laugh at you etc etc. Play.com UK is doing the DCUC figures but are asking £17 for one figure…suppose its free shipping but it seems too expensive, I just want Black Adam.
Suppose I could always ask Mattel UK about the MOTU Classics but I would say they wouldn't.
Also Motorthing are you collecting the MOTU Classics?
Pete
Metropolis Kid! Woohoo!
Motorthing
Thanks for asking about the UK Poe – it's appreciated. The answer was probably trying to sound helpful, but really doesn't take us anywhere.
Most Comic/Speciallity stores can't order DCUC even if they try over here, and the idea of walking into my local TRU and asking them to order some would make a great Homer/Apu Quickiemart type exchange:
"Apu, gimmie some of them DCUC dealies….you know, the ones with BAF pieces in the boxes.."
"Oh Mr. Homer, such a product does not exist…."
Sigh.
I agree about the rest, better yes or no than don't know or can't tell.
Newton Gimmick
I don't have a problem with the answers, it's just not the typical Mattel style. I'd rather yes or no than the normal BS.
PrfktTear
It seems like no matter what Mattel does, someone will complain. I'd rather definite, alebit blunt answers than "we cannot answer at this time for legal reasons".
Glad to hear about offering DCUC @ MattyCollector!
Mark
Hi Poe, thank you for selecting my question. Suppose I should have stated would the DCUC be released in shops like Toys'R'Us etc to save me the cost of shipping.
Thanks again.
Zodach
We can't expect straightforward answers all the time. Mattel holds back answers and details because they either aren't allowed to share that information yet or it could change. And we know how upset collectors get when things change.
I'm just glad that Mattel is consistent with their communication and the Q&A sessions do offer some very good insight from time to time.
Nicholai
While short I did like these answers more than some of the vague answers from previous editions. I'm glad to hear about Superboy and that starting with wave 9 they'll have them on their site (probably far too expensive to get them in most instances though as I'm sure they'll probably sell individual figures for $15).
Poe
Hey, isn't "yes" or "no" better than "maybe" or "Stay tuned!"
Man, tough crowd 😉
Newton Gimmick
They really worked hard on those answers didn't they?
Yes.
No.
Yes.
Anyway, good to know that the Metropolis Kid is coming.
