Mattel has sent along some new pics of Webstor, along with a quick update regarding the subscription service.
Just to update everyone, the MOTU subscriptions will end on Friday at 6:00 Eastern. This subscription is for the Sept – Dec 2009 MOTUC figures available only on MattyCollector.com.

Beautiful BEAUTIFUL update on ol' Webhead!
Okay, I've gotta get this guy. Fortunately, he's the only upcoming figure that I really want.
This series is tough on the brain and wallet, but some of the toys are just too cool to skip.
So Webstor is perpetually dangling string, as it were? It's a shame that at $20 a pop they couldn't figure out a way for the string to retract rather than simply sliding through the backpack.
@PF: Has it been confirmed that it doesn't retract? If not, I bet it does…that, or it's attached to a piece that's removable.
Perfect.
Awesome figure! Can't wait to get him.
OH MAN OH MAN! I LOVE YA POE! THIS IS MY FAVORITE TOY REVIEW SITE!
I seriously am getting this! WOW! I like him even better than the staction! yup…the statue had a goofy buck tooth hunch back look. And his neck stuck out like a turtle or something. Also, I like the arms in the back!
A few ppl have said since his part human he doesn't need extra arms in his back, but without the arms it seems ridiculous for him to be part spider!
CONGRATS MATTEL!
OH and Mattel….
….all the resellers and scalpers I know have not received ONE mint card from you guys after ordering multiple figures. I can't even find a scalper to get me a creaseless card! :O
Personally, I think the white mailer boxes MAY make things a bit more complicated. Might just be a bunch of bent up cards in the white mailer boxes. sheesh.
@Poe: I believe it's been stated that the feature works exactly the same as the old figure. If you look closely at the third photo, you can see the string attached to the pull tab, so I assume you pull that down and the string passes through the backpack. I'd love to be proved wrong.
Amazing.
Looks great! I can't wait till September! Then again, we've still got June, July, and August to look forward too, so I won't be too hasty!
They did a great job on his head. He doesn't have that goofy look like he did before…
From what it looks like the extra legs don't come off, they just bend down out of sight if you don't want to display them. Any other guesses?
I really don't care too much about action features, but if it does have some sort of pull tab, thats pretty cool. I'd love to get him posed scaling Greyskull.
@PF: You may be right. If that's the case, I hope the knot around the pull tab can be untied, because I'll almost certainly want to remove that thing…maybe it'll be tied with a little bit of glue, like DCUC Batman's grappling hook gun.
@Everyone: Has everyone here read the comments on the Matty Collector Facebook by a Johnny SS. The guy who keeps saying motu is gay, he wants a nude wonder woman, etc etc.
I really think this guy does that to get attention and he's just a loser with nothing else better to do.
There are a large amount of people that retaliate but when I look at his photo and how pathetic he is…he's his own worst prison. I mean man…you can't really talk down to trash/crap so why bother? lol
What DOES frustrate me is that Facebook doesn't seem to do anything about it. He's been making comments for weeks now. sheesh
Yeah so much for those detachable arms. Not that it matters. He looks cool with the arms.
That'd make his armo unremovable too. Hmm?
Guess we'll find out. Quick someone get me a Mattel Q&A!
@Jim: I noticed him today. He sucks.
I assumed he was performing satire, because he's just doing what every motuc hater is doing.
I think I posted up one of his posts here the other day, I found it pretty funny. But I avoid Matty's Facebook like the plague so I have no idea if it's annoying or not.
@Jim: I suggest you just ignore his posts and keep reporting him to facebook. They have to take him down sooner or later.
Webstor looks SICK. I wonder though, doesn't he look like he is one of the more expensive figures to build?
I'm no expert, but you'd think that some extensive tooling and design would be required for the extra moving arms and grappling backpack assembly.
Here's hoping Mattel doesn't stiff us on those things when they come out…
Thanks for the pics Poe.
Awww, he looks cute with that big smile.
On a vaguely related note, does anyone have a tentative release scehdule beyond Hordak? Other than Man-at-Arms, I'm pretty clueless about what's coming out.
June: Hordak
July: Man-At-Arms
August: Tri-Klops
September: Webstor
Thank you Mr. Ghostal. God willing, I won't get shut-out on June and July's figures. Tri-Klops…not a fan.
Trap Jaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw!!!!
@Jim: I think he's finally gone.
@Jim
Just do what a lot of folks do:
avoid Facebook
Talk MOTU at worthwhile places like here and he-man.org
PG and the Org guys are on top of things.
There's a lot of fans posting at Facebook, but there's also a lot of jerks.
How sad that Mattel's own site is plagued by some of the worst people.
I take that back. It's not even their site! It's the site Mattel posts on because they won't use their own site!
@Scott, Johnson@Johnson, newton gimmick and everyone:
He's gone? Really? Just got home so I haven't had the chance to check. lol
I like He-man.org but I have to be honest. Of ALL the sites I've EVER been to, He-man.org has the MOST rules ever. I think I got scolded by JV for doing multiple quotes. He said I should read the rules.
I think theres like a manual to use He man.org! lol Seriously, as much as I love the org…and as much as I know its for everyone's own good, I feel a tad tense when I post over there.
My best choice to post is MR. POE GHOSTAL's SITE! User friendly, Laid Back and I'd say that Poe's site gather's the BEST people from EVERY toy site out there. There just seems to be less squabbling and arguments here at Poe. Everyone's laid back and respectful of each other here at Ghostal!
Quick DUMB question: Who is "Mumma ghostal"…is it a regular reader or the actual mother of poe. Yes, I know…dumb question but I wanna ask it anyway. LOL
@Jim: Thanks for the kind words!
And yes, Mumma Ghostal is my real mom. She's always been a strong supporter of my little hobby.
@Poe: What? Really??? LOL LOL wow I was leaning towards some reader getting a kick out of acting like he's your mother! lol
That is the COOLEST thing ever! You're really blessed Poe. Seriously, you got a mom and a wife that support your hobby! Two people in a regular comic geeks life that usually say…"Why are you collecting all that!" Life can't get any better than that! Congrats!
I'll be sure to say hi to Mumma Ghostal if she's ever commenting!
@ Jim
I got the same multiquote message from JVS3.
But it did end up being helpful.
Who knows how many of those rules came about because of jerks who caused the original problems over there. Blame the jerks.
But yeah, PG's site is definitely awesome and one of the best.
Very laid back and lots of great people here.
Let's just hope it doesn't get too popular.
That's when the jerks make their way to a site. They follow the wake of good people.
Then PG's going to have to set up a lot of rules to keep them out.
We don't want this oasis to disappear due to a swarm of idiots.
I think it'll be a while before I have to do too much moderating. Topless Robot is a much more popular website than mine and it doesn't seem to have too many problems with trolls.
You're going to have to pay the Troll toll if you want to get this boy's soul.
I agree, PGPoA is like an oasis from all the stupidity out there, and like minds can gather and discuss our beloved hobby, instead of belittling each other and trying to constantly fight for popularity amongst the other posters.
I've had a couple people (maybe Jim or Mark) be surprised that I didn't start flaming them when they disagreed with me, which is itself sad and surprising, but it happens all too often. I don't frequent too many boards because its all just too much. Plus, every site always seems to have its own agenda, and if the person in charge does not happen to like a particular line, then the reviews will all be slated against it.
And I digress… but really looking forward to Webby, as equally as the others.
I get around that by only buying lines I'm interested in. I just don't have the money, space, or inclination to buy toys I don't really want–not even the odd Transformer or G.I. Joe figure.
That said, I'll admit there's not a whole lot of diversity in my reviews, but that's partly because I don't think of PGPoA as a review site. Frankly, I do the reviews mostly because you all seem to enjoy 'em
wow, I can't wait until September and I'm so glad I went ahead and purchased my Subscription on Monday. Webstor was one of my favorite characters as a kid and one of the few Masters that I had to track down as an adult collector. I cannot wait to add this figure to my collection, although at the rate I'm going I'm gonna need a bigger case for it.
@johnson @johnson: "Let’s just hope it doesn’t get too popular.
That’s when the jerks make their way to a site. They follow the wake of good people."
Yeah I was thinking about the same thing.
As for the multiquote.. I'm definitely not as patient as the rest of you guys but i'm not going to read a manual about how to use the org.
If I can't comment, I won't. I remember JV telling me that he'd have to do something if my multiquotes continue and I only had like…2 multiquotes. lol I was like Holy mother of Christ. I wonder what happens if i do something worse. Do a bunch of .orgers in loin clothes assasinate me? LOL LOL
But in all seriousness, I know it's for the great good. It's just the MOST strict site, i've ever posted at.
@prfktear:
Can't remember what the heck i was going to say. Totally unrelated to any comment u made. It was before the webstor news. What the HECK was it! Nevermind…i'll let u know when i remember.
@ Jim
I dunno, I think you're over thinking it. They seem like nice people. They've helped out fans a lot over the years. Plus they seem to have a good relationship with PG. I don't think PG would be friends with bad people.
I'm looking at the thread on multi-quote now. People who responded seem grateful. And it took me only a couple minutes to read the instructions again. I wouldn't call that a manual.
Communication is the key. If you are actually concerned, you should just PM JVS3.
Besides, we shouldn't turn PG's site into the He-Man.org discussion forum.
I wanna know how to do the quote thingie… lets give this a try…
Blah Blah Blah Blah… You Should Not Buy MOTUC because its the biggest crappedy crap crap crap piece of crap line, and Matty is a flaming homosexual
Hope that works for future reference! OR do you get to do cool stuff like that Poe, cuz you're like the webmaster or something like that…
I admit, yeah, there isn't a lot of diversity here, but its pretty much grand central station for DCUC or MOTUC as far as I'm concerned. If I wanted TF news I'd go to Seibertron or TFormers.com, and I don't care too much about Star Wars or GI Joe to really actively look for news, but I know if theres something worthy it'll be here or on TR!
I agree, I don't think of this site as a review site, its sort of an E&N/pop-culture/nostalgia/random geek culture blog (anything I miss?).
-x
k, obv. that didn't work…
@Johnson@Johnson: I don't think i'm overthinking it. It's just a passing feeling I had of the org compared to the other sites I've been to. As for the Manual comment, I'm not saying the multiquote instructions itself are the manual…all the rules as whole are…at least to me. There are rules for every little thing at that site beside multi quotes.
The majority is fine with it but personally, I'm not really into reading how to post things or what's right and wrong.
IF other sites were like that, I'd be more accustomed to such things but it's just not something I'm used to. Figures are a big part of my life..but they're the least important simply because they're not a necessity in life. Basically, a hobby to be is a wham bam thank you ma'am kinda thing. I just prefer to read, post and call it a day.
As for the orgers being good ppl, I'm not saying they aren't. I was just joking how a simple multi quote got a super ultra fast response regarding how I would be disciplined. lol
Lastly, I dont really need to communicate with JV. I'm sure he's a nice guy and I'm sure he has his reasons. Everyone's different and I'm in the minority who feels that…"Hey, ban me if you want. I won't lose sleep over it."
oh and just to reiterate. No where in my initial response did I say the orgers were bad ppl. All I'm saying is it's CIA headquarters at heman.org
Not saying that's a bad thing but that i'm in the minority of ppl who dont really care much for all that. I know a fair amount of ppl that feel the same way as me but the majority is cool with it. And that's totally fine. Different strookes for different fooolks!
I miss Different Strokes. What happened to sitcoms with a gimmick? Now they're just random, mostly unlikable people strewn together in a random situation. No rich kid with miniature train sets, robotic daughters, creepy old dude with two adopted black sons, old lady running a boarding house… c'mon… we need hillarity!
@Jim I tried to register with He-man.org but they wouldn't accept any of my email address every time I tried.
@PrfktTear, LOL, yes as I recall we had some disagreements over the Transformers Animated toys.
I like the diversity of this site as I like lots of different lines, like MOTUC, Transformers, G.I. Joe, Macross etc etc.
@All: You can use basic HTML tags in comments. So, to quote something, just use
Aah…
Sweet! Thanks for the tip! I've been using other HTML here fine, like bold and italics, however I wasn't sure of the code for quote, I put my "quote" in quotes, but that obviously didn't work.
Thanks! Yay for formatting!
