I made a joe drop last night! And I remembered that when I was a cub scout, my first Toys for Tots donation was Gi Joe- I think it may have been the cobra night landing, but I don't remember too well.

Yeah, "shamed" is strong. I wasn't entirely serious about the reasons, so maybe "inspired" is a better word choice.

I don't think I've been shamed into donating (I'm actually doing a gift tree thing this year where I'm taking care of one particular kid) but I did find the first post a bit intimidating.

I prefer the pic of the dude just dropping some Joes off into the bucket, because that's what most of us can afford or are willing to do.

It's like dropping a few bucks into the Salvation Army bucket and then some guy backs up the Brinks truck and puts in gold bars.

Let's remember that every donation counts, big or small. Most Toys for Tots locations get small donations. Every bit helps. It's not how much you give, it's that you give.

I think "shame" is a strong word. A little friendly competition isn't bad, but I don’t think it’s the spirit of this whole movement. I think the whole point is to give what you can if you can. Perhaps the person who had this giant stack of toys has been stock piling them all year, or maybe it’s just been a really good year for them.

I think whether you donate one toy or one hundred toys the same thought is there; getting toys into the hands of less fortunate kids. Some collectors spend hundreds, and in some cases thousands of dollars a year on tiny hunks of plastic. I think the whole idea of this “contest” (if you want to call it that) is to think of someone else when you’re making your latest purchase. So if you're picking up a Joe or 'Former, pick up an extra one, or instead of getting two for yourself, get one for a kid instead.

All that said, kudos to the fine persons pictured above as well as anyone else participating!

That first pic should shame us all.

Excepting the people who made that donation, of course.
