I’ve heard from several people that there appears to have been a pricing mix-up regarding Diamond’s order for DCUC 11, which is how most comic shops get their DCUC. So I checked into it.
It seems that due to a pricing error, all orders for DCUC wave 11 are going to be canceled and then re-offered at the new (higher) price. Each store that placed an order through Diamond will be contacted and offered the chance to renew their order at the higher price.
My first instinct upon hearing about this was to assume it had something to do with the price hike on DCUC, but it turns out the price DCUC 11 was solicited for was below wholesale cost of all previous waves even before the price increase. So this sounds like your basic clerical error (after all, the price hike isn’t forty percent). It’s not clear which side made the error–Diamond or Mattel–so let’s not get carried away with a round of Mattel-bashing.

Dang! I had ordered this wave specifically through Diamond for that exact reason (my mates call me "Eagle Eye Ruggiero" for a reason), & obviously, Matty's now sold out. Annoying!
I just hope it's not an absurd mark up…
@Mario: I think it should be the pre-hike price, since the hike, IIRC, begins with wave 12.
@Poe: Likely, but with a tad extra being that it's Previews & all…
Off topic, but I meant to ask; are you planning on getting a slew of Battle Cats?
I ask because, although I've pretty much always had smooth transactions with Matty, the two occasions where a figure sold out in less than 15 minutes, I was left in the dust. I don't know if this is one of those "because I'm in Canada" scenarios, but it has me shaking at the kness for Battle Cat, which I just know won't last 2 seconds.
Anyways, I don't want to burden you with this, but if you end up getting a bunch, & only if, trust you me when I say that you'll be refunded promptly, plus a little extra for your time & hassle.
It's Matty – of course we should indulge in a round of Mattel bashing……
Yes, if we don't bash Matty, how will he ever learn? What were people paying for wave 11?
I passed along this info to Poe after I heard the news from my LCS when picking up my books yesterday. My comic guy gave his Diamond rep an earful (I was there when he made the call) but didn't mention it being re-offered. I had a preorder in at BBTS just in case something like this happened and I'll be getting my case through them now. I'd rather get them through my LCS since I like to support the "little guy" but I also want to get the figures. Hopefully BBTS doesn't get screwed like this either.
@The Flash III: I don't know what the stores were paying but my LCS is charging about $17 per individual figure and giving a discount for buying the full case. BBTS has the case of 10 (with both Steppenwolfs, Flash, Superman and Batman) for $150.
Well, I pre-ordered (my first time doing this) the entire wave sans phasing Deadman from Corner Store Comics way back in July. Although it seems that they arrived a little later than those from other vendors, I DID get the whole shebang for $116.99, which apparently is pretty good. But FYI, when I emailed them for a progress update, Todd from CSC was a sarcastic douche. Their phone support was dynamite however.
@Stranger
Thanks, I've never heard of anything like this happening before.
I've preordered waves 6-9 and 11 from Enchanted Toy Chest and they always deliver–even with wave 9. I have 12 on preorder, but depending how Mattycollector.com does with their setup, I may switch over and save about $5.
"Never a dull moment."
At this point reading these new problems is getting more entertaining by the month, instead of collecting the actual figures.
