Poll > Did you get an Evil-lyn?

I’m curious as to exactly how many people who wanted an Evil-lyn, but didn’t have a sub, were able to get one.

  1. @ John – That's a really, really big leap in logic. Mattel didn't have to lie, because they never announced a production number. And of course there were Evil-Lyns for sale.. just not very many of them at all. To give up on MattyCollector is one thing, but to turn it into a broad conspiracy is a bit.. uhm.. generous.

    @John

    If it was a scam how did other people end up ordering it? Are all of them in on the scam as well?

    @Poe I may not have enjoyed the poll, but it sure was fun seeing you get your hackles up. I thought nothing could crack your congenial manner, but now I know that it's as simple as attacking your poll's methodology. I will only use this knowledge for good…

    I am DONE with Matty Collector.

    I was ready to order at noon. As soon as the website allowed me to take orders, I added one to my cart. The page went immediately to the credit card processing page. I entered in my credit card number, hit SUBMIT, and was told the product was sold out. It took 60 seconds. I am adding my voice to those that are convinced that this is a Mattel Scam: the sought after figures like Evil-Lyn are NOT made available for anyone without a subscription to order, this is a ploy to convince us to purchase subscriptions that we wouldn't otherwise need. I am convinced there were NO Evil-Lyn's available to buy that afternoon, and it's unethical for Mattel to advertise this product for a month prior, only to have none available. I am done with that website forever.

    I tried, but failed.

    I did get the Weapon Pak, though. Have yet to receive it.

    @izdawiz: I am being touchy, I'll freely admit that. I am sorry you weren't able to enjoy the poll, but personally I'm satisfied with its results.

    Also, the Question is "Did you get an Evil-lyn?" So I expected to be able to answer the poll,

    "No, because I didn't want one."

    But I can't because you didn't include that option, which caused me all kinds of mental distress because I missed out on thefun of being able to take the poll.

    By constructing such an obviously defective poll, you made me feel like my opinion didn't matter, which made my self-esteem plummet.

    I'll be sending you the bill for my therapy…

    @Poe:

    Is that all I get? A backhanded apology? Where are my monetary damages? Where's my card and gift basket? Where are my fresh-baked cookies?

    (You see what I did there? I played it off so that it doesn't seem that our congenial host is being the touchy one…)

    Hey I like your polls. I like taking them. I just thought this one could have been contructed a little better tis' all.

    @ Poe, you wrote: “I’m curious as to exactly how many people who wanted an Evil-lyn, but didn’t have a sub, were able to get one.”

    Then right under that, the poll includes answers for people who have subs. Why would it do that if it is only trying to find out how people without subs fared? Seems like it’s a flawed poll b/c isn’t sure what it’s trying to ascertain from the get-go.

    Well, for one thing, I didn't realize I'd be so beholden to a tossed-off one-sentence preface to the actual poll. Look, mea culpa for writing a misleading preface, OK? I'll make sure to never, ever write anything before a poll again.

    In any event, I got exactly what I wanted out of this poll: an estimate of the ratios between those who have subs, those who got one off Mattycollector, and those who weren't able to get one off Mattycollector. It was enlightening, because it suggests that, in the case of Evil-lyn at least, they could have sold twice as many figures as the subscription numbers (not just the much smaller allotment sold on Mattycollector) and still sold out, probably on the same day.

    Also on how many people are w/out subs are gonna order them next time because things are so screwy with the ordering system?

    You're not "diluting" the poll by asking for more information, you are just getting more information.

    I'd still think it would be interesting to get that additional info.

    That's why I think you should run another poll asking how many people collect MOTUC but didn't even try because they were fed up with Matty.com's problems.

    Or maybe how many people tried to bundle their orders with others and how that went.

    The possibility for polling data on thsi is endless… 😉

    @Valo487: Don't they already shift the blame to fans? It seems like every Q&A includes at least one "but you guys have to buy it, or we'll dump the line!"

    Either way, though, I think you and I are on the same page.

    @Scott: I also wanted to know how the sub numbers compared to the numbers of those who got one through Mattycollector or didn't get one at all.
