Batman: Arkham Asylum figures possibly awesomest things ever made by DCD

Seriously. OK, so the articulation isn’t great, and Batman really should have black and not blue highlights (and if you don’t think DC Direct will be selling that repaint at some point, have I got a bridge for you). And of course, DCD’s overly-cautious nature has them striking when the iron is red-hot, a good fourteen months after the game’s debut and months or perhaps years before the sequel hits.

But that doesn’t make these figures any less supremely awesome. I’m already thinking this entire set may be worth a pre-order. Thoughts?

    @JediCreeper: if you think harley's hot… you need to play the game… poison ivy will blow your pants off.

    I gave up on DCD after HUSH and those are ALL in bits in the recyke bin waiting for me to summon up the effort to do something creative with their useless, flimsy carcasses. Never again however sweet these look.

    Agree on Cyborg Supes and that Doomsday from the same line – the POA may be crap but they were strudy and just beautiful sculpts. Shame they went downhill from there.

  3. @Fengschwing: You could be right man, but out of my 4 DCUC figures 2 had faults, out of 5 DCD figures none at all.

    I preordered these as soon as they were announced.

    I own about 40 DC Direct figures, and other than a few problems with certain stands, I've never had any problems with QC or paint issues. I'd be much more confident buying a DC Direct figure without having the chance to inspect it than any DCUC from Mattel.

    I love Batman: Arkham Asylum. Sure.

    I especially loved the way they made Batman fight. It represents, to my mind, one of the first examples of what real superhero combat should look like in video games. It's dynamic, it's fluid, it's brutal, it demands quick thinking and tactics from players.

    It just feels wrong, then, that the action figure incarnations of this universe are so painfully stiff.

    @Mark:

    Agree with you about the sculpt, but trust me, DCD have QC issues all their own. They tend to fall apart after about 12 months. You'll innocently move an arm only to have it come off in your hand.

    There are some beauts though. Most of the Black Lanterns I've seen so far have been gorgeous.

  7. I have owned a few DCD and DCUC figures and DCD are hands down the best…DCUC may have a bit more articulation, but the sculpts are nowhere near as good as the DCD figures.

    I guess I would rather have a nice looking figure that could move compared to and odd looking very articulated figure with QC issues.
