Toy Aisle Trolls > Gotham City Dive

Toy Aisle Trolls is a feature highlighting acts of vandalism to in-store toy items. If you find a ruined package, a stolen figure, a swapped-out figure, or any other such acts, take a photo (cell phone photos are fine if they’re not blurry) and email them to poe AT poeghostal.com. Also, please note: I’m deliberately being over-the-top with my condemnation of these people–I don’t actually wish bodily harm upon them. Just severe mental anguish.

Reader 3B returns with another fine example of humanity at its best:

Man, they don’t quit! I snapped this pick a few hours ago at my local Walmart. My only question is, why would they take two of the most common figures and leave behind the exclusive Lex?

A good question, Mr. 3B. A good question.

  • maybe this guy is a "good" troll…

I'd buy that in a flash mostly cause of Nightwing and Cyborg…

  • Sod, I was gonna say I'd buy that…but then I thought, I don't know if I'd be comfortable, knowing some filthy troll had his paws all over it. Maybe.

  • Is the sonic cannon one really the hard one? He was way more common in L.A. than the original.

Anyhow, I agree that he improved the pack.

  • @americanhyena:

yeah i actually would have bought the pack. this troll is a good troll…

he should be given a reward for taking one, err tech 2 for the team.

  • Anyone else notice that 99% of the swapped figures are Mattel brand? I think the fans have some unresolved issues :)

  • Maybe he is a Troll Elf?!

I had a thought for a real laugh… recently I picked up MP Skywarp from Wal-Mart since they FINALLY got knocked down to $15.00 on clearance… I could swap him out with MP Starscream and return him! ;-)

  • @wesitron:

nah..it is just that mattel repacks are what seem to be reported more.

i have seen ALOT of hasbro repacks on GI JOE and Star Wars. pretty much the more repaint heavy the line the more repacks you will find, especially if you have to buy repaints or repacks to get the figure you actually want like lex luthor or guy gardner.

  • @Thomas B:

True, it could also be the Mattel's been pushing a lot of product lately. GI Joe hasn't seen anything new in a while, Marvel U is starting to become DCUC wave 6 and 7, I'm surprised I'm actually saying it but Mattel seems to really be trying to get those figures out there now, and the more product you have on the shelf, the more someone's going to try to rip it off.

Personally, I've only seen minimates, Power Rangers, and some CNC stuff get ripped off. I doubt I'd even notice much else. Good point :)

  • I should have taken a pic of the pegs just above… they still have several Sonic Arm Cyborgs at that Walmart. It's obvious why he/she/it used one, but Nightwing's a lot harder to find, IMO.

When this set first debuted back in Sept(?), I saw a repack that replaced Lex with Deadshot at the same WM. I never saw him at any retail store in my area and ended up having to order him online! That was another weird swap.
