Any questions for Mattel?

Questions are due by 11:59pm on Thursday, November 11. This is for the December 1 round.

On a side note, December 1 will be PGPoA’s three-year anniversary!

  • With the upcoming release of the Green Lantern movie in 2011 will Green Lantern Classics line see a wider distribution than the (much loved but hard to find) DCUC line?

  • 1. When will we find out about the server changes for the Nov. 15 sale?

    2. When will we see DCUC wave 14?

  • For future Ghostbusters and other film lines, any chance of seeing fully painted heads? It looks great on all the MOTUC faces as well as the DCUC figures that get this treatment. I think something is lost in the otherwise great likeness when it is produced in a glossy plastic.

  • Some folks are already complaining of grizzlor's fur coming off very easily, yet this was something mattel had previously assured us would not be a problem. it's too late for mattel to correct this problem, on the reissues or the original figures at this point, will refunds be offered? should refunds have been offered over roboto's backwards shoulders? these problems are mattel's, not ours… why are fans being asked to pay, sight-unseen, for shoddy QC?

  • @dayraven: Mattel had replied that on the Roboto incident that they would not be giving back refunds, because technically there is nothing wrong with the toy (doesn't hinder any movement, nor breaks.) Supposedly that's how the 4 Horsemen sculpted the figure. So even though i think the fur might represent a bigger problem, I doubt they will refund (or more accurately recall) the figures. Fans will pay for whatever they are given and they will like it.

  • @Nicholai: I'm pretty sure they've said no more DCUC sets on matty, since the other sets "didn't perform well enough" or whatever.

  • Can you please stop posing the WWE Legends figures in the packages as it is bending their legs to the side.

Just pose them normally they do not have to be in a dynamic pose to sell.

    Excellent figures BTW:)

  • @Mark: an interesting side Q to yours might be "does mattel have the rights to do an andre the giant figure?" as jakks is releasing one as part of their TNA line… which i find utterly confusing…

  • @Nicholai:

I believe Toy Guru said they would start selling individual figures on Mattycollector.com starting with wave 16.

  • My Sinestro Corps members all have very different shades of yellow coloring, especially SC Batman, who is a much brighter, less orangey shade. Will future SC members vary like this, or can we expect more of a consistent shade? Also, Martian Manhunter's heads are too big. So is OMAC's. Inconsistent head size has been a bit of a problem for a while in DCUC, but seems to be getting a lot worse. Any chance for more consistency going forward on this? I guess consistency in general is the over-arching theme of my questions.

  • When Mezco made a mistake (if you can call it that) on their Hellboy 2 Wink figure, they actually enclosed a form which could be sent out for a corrected head at no cost to the consumer. How does this example of above-and-beyond customer service make you feel?

  • I was wondering why you decided to break up the complete set of silver/rusty weapons in the upcoming Weapons Rack pack with a number of maroon (Man-E-Weapons inspired) ones?

Not only does it deny fans the complete set of weapons shown (at this point) in the promotional photo, but it also removes a potential Man-E-Face "refresh" option in the future by putting those weapons in the pack.

This seems like a loose/loose situation.

Can you explain why this was done, and if the (now) missing rusty silver Rack weapons may make it into a future Weapons Pak so that we may (eventually) have the complete Rack as it has (to date) been advertised?

  • @Heli:

I think they said that Wave 5 did fairly well so they were reconsidering.

My question: 90% of the Wal-Marts in my area have stopped carrying DCUC altogether. Finding a regular wave is hard enough but when a retailer with an exclusive wave isn't even carrying the regular figures, how are we supposed to find their exclusives? Will Wave 14 be offered on mattycolletor.com? And why give a retailer like Wal-Mart an exclusive when they obviously don't care about the brand?

  • @dayraven: Not to sure, I believe the companies sign deals with the superstar or the families. Andre's family probably have worked out a deal to allow both companies to make him and not make it exclusive. Wish Mattel's deal with Randy Savage wasn't exclusive as I would love a Jakks Macho Man.

  • Has the WWE team considered using the Terry Funk Elite upper body on more superstars? I feel that torso is more appropriate for folks like Edge, Chris Jericho, Drew McIntyre, Alberto Del Rio, Cowboy Bob Orton, prime Shawn Michaels, etc since it's a little beefier than what's currently being used.

  • Is anyone retailing MOTU Classic figures in Australia?

I am having trouble tracking them down.

  • Assuming that the PKE Meter sales are extremely successful; Will the idea of selling life sized props extend to other Mattycollector.com lines, like DCUC, or MOTUC?

  • I would like to know when will we get to see a Ram-Man, Fisto, Man-E-Faces in the Matty classics line…

Also will Fisto come with his faithful steed?

  • One More: Does Grizzlor's fur come off with water like Moss Man's flock did? Thanks!
