Toy Aisle Trolls > KaraLoki

Toy Aisle Trolls is a feature highlighting acts of vandalism to in-store toy items. If you find a ruined package, a stolen figure, a swapped-out figure, or any other such acts, take a photo (cell phone photos are fine if they’re not blurry) and email them to poe AT poeghostal.com.

Poester Barbecue17 conjures up this mystery.

My wife and I were out at our local Walmart in Shelby, NC when we noticed this Loki figure from the new Thor line.  (Actually, we noticed the absence of the figure.)  My first thought was that this was just the work of some juvenile delinquent, but upon closer inspection I noticed that the figure seems to be simply missing from the packaging.  The packaging was perfectly fine and still neatly sealed, along with every other figure nearby appearing to be case-fresh.  This led me to a horrifying realization of Lovecraftian proportions: Either Toy Aisle Trolls have infiltrated Hasbro themselves, or they have started developing the terrifying power to simply remove action figures from sealed blister cards using the powers of their minds!!  Perhaps no blister card will be safe from their ungodly powers!

Karmic Payback: Unclear, as this may or may not have been the act of a human. But Loki is the trickster god, so this is rather fitting…

    That's kinda ironically awesome.

While I wouldn't put it past WalMart drones to just stick a pack on the shelf without even looking at it, I almost want to think this is somebody's prank.

I saw something similar recently. The Loki figure was intact, the package was sealed, but alll the weapons were missing. Strange but true.

DUDE! That's the super-rare variant Invisible Loki (based on his transparent performance in the film)! I can't believe you just left it there!

    @ Barbecue17:

That's what I figured but some of this crap is so overpriced, you never know anymore….

I think that was the peg for the deluxe figures. It looked like the figures had just been laid out rather haphazardly and were not all on the right pegs.

For the love of god please tell me that was hung on the wrong peg! 12.96 for a single 3 3/4 fig?!

i have to be real here, this shakes my philosophic core to the foundation. thats’ a loki not in the package. we should all cower in fear at those implications. this idol LIVES!

  8. @ Barbecue17:

Back when I used to work at Toys R Us, our clearance section was intentionally put in the far corner where no one ever went in hopes of people stealing it. Even if the product was on sale for 90% off, they could claim full value with the insurance company for theft.

My boss was pissed when I bought a garbage bag worth of Mewtwo beanies for a nickel – TOTAL. He was hoping people would gradually swipe them and the store could get $6 a pop for them, making his numbers look better.

The pun is the lowest form of humor, after all.

@ Poe:Oh, I get it. That was too clever for me.

    @ Dead Man Walking:

Karaoke is a song without lyrics. KaraLoki is an action figure package of Loki without Loki.

What? You try to come up with puns for every one of these damned things.

After taking the picture, my wife and I did track down an employee working in the toy department. She took the package and we have not seen it since. My Wal-Mart seems to be really good about not putting defective merchandise back on the shelves.

I wonder if Hasbro gives them credit or something when the figure appears to have been shipped defective.

    trickster god indeed!

  14. Dead Man Walking

I don't get the title. Karaloki? I was expecting Loki to have been switched with a figure named Kara. Or have something to do with karaoke.

Also, I once got an empty but sealed yogurt container in a pack.

    @ Poe:

Not paying attention, not caring? (I know your question was rhetorical)

  16. Poe

Fair enough if it was just a packaging error, but why did they put it on the pegs?

  17. He's isn't called Secret Strike for no reason!

  18. This looks more like a packaging error than theft to me.
