Mattel has posted packaging pics & bios for Man-E-Faces and Megator, both due this August.
I’ve been thinking I may start doing bio discussions upon their revealing, rather than waiting until I’ve had a chance to scan the actual packaging (I’ll still do that and include them in the review, though). Anyone care either way?
As for these, it’s notable that both of these figures will have “mystery” accessories. I’m with IAT in hoping for a gross zombie head for Megator. That said, the whole thing about resurrecting him is…kinda weird, but cool, I think. Those are my ever-so-erudite thoughts on the matter, at least until the official bio discussion.
As for Man-E-Faces: he was always one of my favorites as a kid. I loved the vintage figure, I loved the 200X figure, and I’m really like the MOTUC version, too. Of the figures coming out between now and August, it’s a tie for me between MEF and Battleground Teela for the one I’m most excited about (Catra, I’m afraid, wins “least”).
Any guesses on MEF’s secret accessory? Or did we already do this?

Man-E is definitely looking alot better now, and definitely has me excited to get him.
Why did Megator die twice? It seems like having him come back as a zombie justifies having him outside of Preternia, but then they just murdered him again…
Also, why does he need a real name? Megator seems like a perfectly good name for an evil giant…
Either way, between these two and Clawful, this summer's gonna be awesome for MOTUC!
Giant zombies! Yeah! I really like these bios a lot actually and their real names are not bad either.
I'm in favour of leaving the bio discussions until after the figures are released. There's more time to digest the contents then and reactions should stabilise into a more balanced review of it.
I imagine that MEF will come with a 2nd head set with different faces sculpted on it.
A number of folks have suggested that MEF might come with his 200x staft/club. Did MEF have a club/staff in the MYP cartoon? I really don't remember. I know the 200x figure has the missile firing gun, and I have seen some people pose MEF holding the Missile like a club, so maybe that is what folks are referring to?
Regarding Megator, who knows what his accessory might be? While I absolutely did not like Tytus, Megator looks fantastic. While Ttyus suffered from being underarticulated, lacking a decent weapon, and being pretty dull overall, Megator benefits from looking awesome and coming with at least one cool weapon (and hopefully another.)
There have been some rumors floating around that Man-E-Faces will get a 2nd head with faces of He-Man, Skeletor and Hordak.
The same sources said that Megator would get a sword as secret accessoire.
Personally, I hope those rumors were false. I wouldn't have any use for such a heead, and I'd rather get a Zombie Megator head than a sword.
I'm hoping it's a good weapon for Tytus. I'd prefer he have a war hammer over a sword though.
I must say, I hate the MEF bio. He drank a magic potion that turned him into a monster, but then also gave him a robot head? WTF?
I think Megator as he's portrayed now IS the Zombie version and he previously looked more like Tytus and less monstrous. It makes sense that somewhere down the line we'd receive a First Ultimate Battleground version.
Someone on the Matty forums asked if we might get a Zombie version down the line and Scott's reply was "…"

Ha, I didn't even notice Megator had a real name. That's hilarious. "Megator, a.k.a. Moleb the Demolisher,"…it makes it sound like his given name is Megator and his "code name" is Moleb.
So is Man-E's robot head required to prevent the beast from taking over? It sounds like they just added it in for no reason.
I bought two Vikors. I will buy two BG Teelas. And now I will get me two Megators. The green-orc looks so damn awesome! MEF = MEH for me. As much as I love MOTUC, I can't personally justify myself buying the whole series. I'd rather collect the vintage figures I missed out as when I was a child.
i wonder how many james bond themed megator pictures we'll get from motucers once the fig hits… since "die another day" and "you only live twice" are both story applicable… but someone will have to find a megator sized gun in their fodder bin.
I guess Megator's secret pack-in will be an antique chest full Twinkies to explain how the Defenders of Grayskull survived the zombie-apocalypse.
It might also be a giant baseball-bat for Tytus. However that would make things even more complicated, history-wise, for wasn't Tytus killed by Megator? Oh well, I always felt the MotU story needed a solid time-paradox apart from He-Man travelling back in time clad in a potatoe-sack to possibly become his own greatgreatgreatgreatgreat-grandfather owing to the fact that while fighting King Hsss and rescuing… maybe it's complicated enough already.
So I go for a dual-Skeletor-blade.
Man E Faces looks a lot more orange than I thought he would. I can't see much difference between this and the original figure. I don't know, I really hope that we'll get a cross sell accurate figure later, because this one just isn't doing anything for me.
Also, I like the idea of doing Bio Discussions as soon as they're posted by Mattel. Not that I get involved with them much, because I typically don't care enough to have a strong opinion, but I always like to read what people think about them.
Megator has died more times than Jean Grey!
Man-E-Faces: optimistic – 2 additional heads.
realistic – bottle of potion.
@ clark:
I agree with this to an extent. We can vent and complain, then when we actually have the figure in hand we can look at the bios again, but this time with more time to digest and determine if our initial reactions were warranted.
Wait wait wait, I just actually read through Man-E-Faces's bio. Huh?
Too-Man-E-Faces may have hit the proverbial nail on the head with the comment about Skeletor's 200X dual swords. I remember TG saying something about finding a way to get it released.
A second head for MEF would be kinda neat, but I'm not holding my breath. In regards to his 200X club – his gun actually morphed into the club. (just before Merman cut it in two). Odds of getting a club are 50/50 with the bottle of potion. imo.
I think Man-E's secret accessory will be all the red weapons from the weapons rack, but in silver.
I have to admit that I doubt Mattel would just toss Skeletor's swords in to a random character's packaging without tying them in to the character somehow. The Faceless One would have made the most sense…not sure who we'll see them with now. Maybe 200X Evil-Lyn.
I'm thinking maybe 2 additional heads for Man-E since ToyGuru says that a 2011 figure will include 3 heads. I'd thought of Modulok initially, but aren't all the deluxe skus for this year occupied already?
Is Man-E-Faces' real name a reference to something? It seems weird, but in this case Man-E-Faces as a real name would have been pretty dumb so they can get away with calling him anything.
Pretty excited about both of these guys.
Am I the only one that thinks Man-E-Face'…'s name, "Perkadeo" is a little weird?
Then again, I am the guy who is perfectly fine with Optikk's (A series of blinks), Buzz-Off's (TzzTzzTzzZzzT), and Clawfuls (A series of clicks)?
Toyguru stated that the secret accessories for MEF and Moleb were supposed to relate to them. So I'd say no Keldor swords. Which I'm still waiting on. Curse you Mattel.
Both of these figures look pretty cool.
Zombie Megator sounds awesome. I don't like the idea of him serving Hordak at all though. He was preternia and so was King Hsss. It just makes more sense to me if he serves Hsss.
Man-E-Faces looks pretty cool too.
Skeletor's dual-blades would make sense with Spikor, since he's the weaponsmith of the Evil Warriors.
As for Man-E-Faces' bio, most of it is based on the minicomic "The Ordeal of Man-E-Faces". Mattel just failed at explaining that he got the neutral robot head due to Skeletor and the Sorceress magically changing him back and forth between heroic human and evil monster.
The more I look at these, the more excited I get for Megator. I find Tytus a bit boring, but Megator seems much better. Even little things, like his wide-legged battle-ready stance, are a noticeable improvement over Tytus.
@ Poe:
uh, homes? not for nothing, but i'm pretty sure these are both built on the same buck… meaning his stance is exactly the same as tytus'. the only different is the armor granting him a thicker and wider looking chest, and the mane of hair giving his head the appearance of more mass… so he looks slightly larger and more stooped forward.
@ dayraven: I was basing my comment off this picture. The splay of the lower legs and the position of the feet against the ground look different (and better) to me than Tytus's (whose legs, to stand correctly, have a pretty significant bend at the knees, which I think detracts a bit from the figure). To be fair, it could be the angle of the pic.
maybe the lower legs fit the knees at a different angle… i was basing my comments off the packaged photo, that sure appears to be of a tighter stance. i guess we'll find out when the fig arrives, eh?
I think the packaging looks good and the figures will be a welcome addition to the range.
I'm still hoping that MEF comes with the weird theater masks he had in the comic. Probably highly impossible to pull off, but it would still be cool.
Megators bio gave me weird chills. The resserection thing is awesome, especially since he was "eaten" by the Central Tower. And what kind of creature IS Megator, if "millenia later" his corpse is discovered?
Sure, we have all these great bios, but I'd love to see some of this stuff in action as part of an animated series or something. Who knows WHAT will happen.
Then again, I never really imagined I'd ever have the OPTION of getting a "new Megator", so what happens with this line is anyones' guess.
