Moguera & Baby Godzilla join the S.H.MonsterArts lineup

I’ve been trying to figure out what Tamashii Nations is–evidently they’re “an umbrella label encompassing Japan’s top collectible brands” and, as far as I can tell, they’re run by Bandai.

Anyway, the Tamashii Nations Facebook page has posted new pics of the S.H.MonsterArts Moguera and Baby Godzilla figures. For those who don’t know, S.H.MonsterArts (SHM) is a line of 6″ scale, fully-articulated Godzilla figures. (I’ll be reviewing Godzilla and Mechagodzilla in the near future–once I get through the mass of MOTUC reviews I have on deck.)

I’m not much of a fan of Moguera in either his original look from the 1957 Japanese alien invaders film The Mysterians or his revamped version from Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II SpaceGodzilla, which is the version this figure is based on. But I’m too excited about the SHM line to pass on it, and besides, the accessories look fantastic.

I’m a bit less excited about the accessories pack that is coming for SpaceGodzilla. It will include a figure of Baby Godzilla, whose ridiculous Pokemon-like appearance was not the highlight of GvMcGII.

The set will also come with some crystals for SpaceGodzilla, and the little Godzilla is somewhat adorable, and more importantly, it’s going to be available in the U.S., so it won’t be as expensive as the previous sets. All of which is to say, yeah, I’ll get it.

Here’s the info:

Have they put out any Megalons yet? I can never find any good figures of him. (it?)

I'd like them to branch out into the other Godzilla films. Like "All Monsters Attack" and some of the classics. Great figures, but the designs are not my favorites. When they make 70's Mecha-Godzilla, I will sell a Kindney…Or have to let Mattel starve for a month.

Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of the Heisi serie's Mecha-Godzilla 2 they're giving us. I love the 70's era Mecha-G and the Mecha-Godzilla 3 (Kiryu) was an awesome update too.

I'd love if they eventually got to all three versions.

    WOW, no one caught this.

Godzilla vs SpaceGodzilla… Not vs Mechagodzilla II…. That's why the used MOGEURA….

  4. I had no idea that Baby Godzilla had gotten a modern redesign. I kind of want to hug him, but his eyes want to swallow my soul.

Better than his original look, which in retrospect looked like an elderly Ninja Turtle.

  5. Yeah bandai does the monsterarts figures. They also do s.h. figuarts which is a line of human characters from various anime and whatnot.

What's up with Tamashii US? Their site is never updated (or at least in english) and it's almost impossible for retailers to find the needed ordering info… how can you sell stuff in the US if stores can't even figure out how to order it?

    • Ronnie Lane

      Through Sideshow Toys, of course.

    • BeeARRR

Wow, that SUCKS. Wholesaling from Sideshow blows!! High minimum orders, little to no profit margins vs. their website price. Well, looks like I'm going to have to import these myself… so what is the point of Tamashii US then? NONE

    • Well, Tamashii seems to be saying that all figures from Moguera forward will be sold in the U.S.–with no middleman–so prices should come down.

    Very nice!

hey, does anybody remember the original Moguera? From The Mysterians?

    • Well, yes…I mentioned it in the post. It has a Revoltech figure–there\’s a review over on ItsAllTrue.net.

There were two Moguera robots on the 1967 movie, and both effectively destroyed themselves without any real help from the humans.

I’m the exact opposite. Sign me up for baby G, pass on Moguera.
