In the next couple days he said they’ll reveal some figures from the Amazing Spiderman 2 ML wave and Captain America Winter Soldier Wave, very exciting news. This will give us a wide variety of characters. He said they’ll be releasing a wave for Guardians of the Galaxy, Xmen Days of the future past and and Ant man.

Likewise, apparently Marvel universe is going to be folded into only movie tie-in lines, too.  If this is true – and I won’t say for certain until a Hasbro rep says it – then it’s not a terrible surprise, since MU’s distribution has been crazy-awful and haphazard lately.  So, now what?  Will the movie figures all have 5 POA, or will they be MU-quality?  And if marvel Legends is going down, too, what will this do to the quality of the line?  Regardless, if it is being cancelled, it’s had a surprisingly good run – and even a revival!  So I can’t claim that ML is getting killed off too soon, but… I don’t know.  It feels sad, like the end of an era.  Marvel Legends was really what championed the 6″ scale into the massive juggernaut it is today, so seeing it go is very sad.

  • It makes sense from a branding standpoint. I just hope we'll still get characters like Klaw, Constrictor, and the upcoming villains they showed off.

  • so long as we keep getting figures in that six inch scale, and they're not just the folks who appear in the movie, i'm cool with whatever re-branding they want to do. i'm attached to the figures, not the nomme du jour.

  • This is actually good news. they have stated the quality will be the same, they are just consolidating under. Single banner to give retailers more confidence. Its like if Movie Masters were just a DCUC wave.

  • I don't know…I'd like a Marvel Legends Nighthawk. I don't want to have to wait until he's in a movie…

  • While I stopped buying Marvel Legends when Hasbro acquired the line, I think this makes a lot of sense. Marvel Legends has always been more of a style (6 inch, hyper-articulated) and not just a line. Back when Toybiz was making them, there were X-Men, Spider-Man and Fantastic Four lines in addition to Marvel Legends that had Legends-like figures.

If branding these are "Avengers Legends" or "Thor Legends" allows Hasbro to get more shelf space or more consistent distribution, that's a good thing because once the figures are opened, does it really matter if they came from Marvel Legends or another line?

  • I don't collect ML anymore but do collect Marvel Universe- good news for my wallet on that front, there were way too many a year to keep up with anyway. Unfortunately it also probably means no more 1960s-1990s characters/costumes, which is what I get mostly anyway.
