Poe Gets Married

I’m back!

Wow, so much has happened since my last post. I got Lobo, King Grayskull, DCUC Wave 3, a new computer, and oh, I got married, too. I’ll get to all that other stuff later in the week–today is the official post-wedding post.

The wedding went off without a hitch, other than the “getting hitched” part of it, of course. Dr. Mrs. Ghostal-to-Be will hereafter be referred to as Dr. Ghostal, or DG for short.

DG is a loving, patient woman, and so as some of you may know, we had action figure centerpieces at the reception. Leonardo here was just one of a special group of wedding guests who also included Batman, Godzilla, the Tick, Liz Sherman, Peter Petrelli, the Hulk, Spider-man, April O’Neil, Homer Simpson, and Hellboy.

Each table had a small standee with an image of the character, its name , and the table number (for those who didn’t recognize, say, Peter Petrelli or Liz Sherman), and each guest’s name cards had a matching image to their table.

DG specifically requested Hellboy get the seat of honor at our sweetheart table, as you can see in the pic below. (Before you ask, it’s the Gentle Giant movie Hellboy wearing the trenchcoat from the Gambit of the ML X-Men boxed set. Rustin Parr, who was in attendance, thought it looked pretty good on him.)

(I look different without the hat and red glasses, don’t I?)

Of course, we had to have action figures as our cake topper, too. We’re both big fans of Futurama, so we decided that Leela and Fry would be perfect. We had to customize them a bit first, though; Karen added a skirt to Leela, and I painted a tuxedo onto Fry. I think the results speak for themselves.

For those of you who read this blog but aren’t quite as into toys as I am, it wouldn’t be fair to leave you without at least one more traditional photo from the wedding. So here you go–Poe and DG in all their glory.

Naturally, I couldn’t be happier to have married such a brilliant, beautiful, loving woman, whose vows included the line, “I promise to always make room for your action figures.” Seriously, how lucky am I?

Congratulations! Does that mean you need a wooden action figure to celebrate? or will Obsoletely Fabulous Bender do? or just Hentai Woody…

  2. Congratulation on getting married, and on getting someone who's tolerant with your toy obsession.

My toy collecting disease was in recession when I got married, but since it surfaced a couple years back my wife has been wonderfully patient and understanding with me.
