One of my greatest regrets was dumping a pretty damn big collection of MOTU and G.I. Joe figures for spending money around about 7th grade. I was a music geek in high school (before it somehow became "cool" to listen to bands no one had heard of, it was just one of the lesser-known forms of geekery). I occasionaly read comics, but simply could/would not invest the time, money and effort to follow even my favorite characters (it was the nineties, so…enough said). Other than obsessively watching Xena: Warrior Princess and PBS broadcasts of Dr. Who, I was completely out of the geek game by the late nineties and coming across the aformentioned figures was a complete shock–The details! The quality! Who knew that 'toys' could be like this? However, there was this new-fangled thing called the internet that folks were using at the college, and once I'd learned more about this strange "McFarlane" person and his monstrous toys, which in turn led me to this whole world of collecting various (geek) things, and all these people creating their own (geek) things, and fandom in general, and soforth…well, the rest is history…
@Dark Angel: Spawn the Black Knight was also one of my first "renaissance era" figures, along with Movie Maniacs. This came after a long interim period throughout high school where most of what would have been toy money was spent on Magic: The Gathering cards.
Yessir, it is, from the first Spawn: The Dark Ages series. Can't tell which paint version it is due to the lighting, though (it could even be the third paint version they released years later).
Fun Fact: Spawn the Black Knight and Curse of Spawn were the very first two action figures I bought as an adult, at a Walgreens (that no longer exists) of all places. That was…oh, gods–! That was over ten years ago. And literally a couple thousand action figures ago.

Is this toy illuminated by a UV/blacklight?

I'm so old. And have spent so much money…

Isn't that Spawn the Black Knight?
