Odds ‘n Ends > Christmas Haulage Thread

Got some spare time this lovely Christmas morning, so I thought I’d share my own Christmas haulage and give you the opportunity to share yours. Here’s mine:

Dr. Mrs. Ghostal’s big gift was a Kindle, but she also got a 20″ plush Appa from the cartoon Avatar: The Last Airbender, a Funko POP Heroes Batgirl and a Wizard of Oz Toto in a basket.

  1. For Christmas this year my wife and I focused on rebuilding/redecorating our living room. Shelving everywhere stocked with toys now, lighting, all new and wonderful place to display a ton of different toys.

That MOTU art book was a fantastic gift. Congrats! I'd love one, but not at the eBay prices.

My Christmas haul was pretty nice. I was particurally surprised by how many "nerdy" things my girlfriend bought for me. That's just one more reason for me to love her.

    Marvel Universe Galactus

    DCUC Martian Manhunter

    2 Scott Pilgrim T-shirts

    1 LOST T-shirt

    Scott Pilgrim box set

    12-inch Kick Ass in-action figure

    Kiss Kiss Bang Bang Blu-ray

    Inception Blu-ray/DVD combo

    Observe and Report Blu-ray

    The Producers DVD

    Taken DVD

    Seven Samurai DVD

Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare for Xbox 360

    Inception CD

$40 gift card to my favorite sushi restaurant

Bamboo dining utensil set including chop sticks

Superman and Wonder Woman salt and pepper shakers

    Test kitchen cook book

    Mark Twain auto-biography

    3 Hubble posters

It must be a production/molding error… Because they all use the same buck essentially, and I've had no issues with any swivels. Maybe it came out of the mold before fully cooling and fused together, or someone was too liberal gluing the front and back torso together.

  4. Nik-

Upon further inspection, there is no swivel waist on my Pete; his waist is rock solid. Dunno if I have a mistake, or what, but at least now he's fixed and going on the display/shelf.

  5. Nik

    @Bill: were talking GB2 peter? Mine swivels…

  6. @Nik:

UPDATE: Pete's waist isn't a swivel, and after a long freeze, all I succeeded in doing was breaking the clear plastic tube on him. A little Superglue™ fixed it, but for the rest of you out there, be warned not to believe everything you read online.

I am still hooked on this line, and have ordered a Walter Peck from ebay.

No hard feelings, Nik. Merry Christmas!

  7. @Nik:

Thanks, he's in the freezer now.

    @jestergoblin

Rock on with all that LEGO action!

Or suffer in OCD frustration, depending on how anal you are about bricks with one set never mingling with others. I probably fall in the latter camp.

I grabbed some series 3 to open with my little girl sometime this week as the kids already had way too much stuff and I wad trying to keep it even. Point is, I'll try and let you know if we end up with doubles of any of those.

    @Poe

I know you can't post scans, but a review of that MOTU art book would be cool even if it isn't brand new. I've been curious about it, but I can't blame them for underestimating demand. A second run would be a sellout now I think.

  9. Nik

@Bill: He swivels, yours is just stuck.

  10. Dark Angel

    …I got a rock.

    😉

  11. My biggest surprise was getting the Ghostbusters TRU 4 pack, from Perfect Wifey. Although I love the GB, I stayed away from this line for all the reasons everyone has, Now that I have them in hand though, I like them a lot, and of course, I must have more. Will I now become another tortured Matty victim every other month? I hope not.

One question to those out there that have this set: Does Peter have a waist swivel or not? The other three do, but Pete seems stuck solid.

BTW, Merry Christmas, Poe, and to you all!

  12. Mecha-Shiva

    Got a new monitor,

    Battle cat and Skeletor,

some ring that emits green cosmic power

    and money.

  13. I somehow managed to get an obscene amount of LEGO for Christmas. My next door neighbors gave me their kids old collection, my best friend gave me his childhood collection and then there were the actual sets:

28 Series 3 Minifigure packs (but no elf, fisherman or chief)

    Quidditch Match

    Freeing Dobby

    Desert Attack

    The Ostrich Race

    Space Smash 'n Grab

    Toy Story Army Men

    Gateway of the Squid

    Kingdoms Advent Calendar

Plus a $50 giftcard to the LEGO store!

  14. Nik

    Christmas was super awesome.

Super awesome girlfriend got me the Mattel PKE (best thing ever), an awesome deviantArt laptop/wacom backpack, Last Stand of the wreckers and Dewar's 12 years. Lots of candy as well. Got some star wars toys (new R2 and Dengar) and the ghostbusters Blu Ray from family, and an iPhone 4 from my parents.

  15. Reverend Ender

@Khaosbringer: If you like Knob Creek then you definitely need to try Bulleit. It's the winner in my book, although Knob Creek is also good.

  16. PrfktTear

@FakeEyes22: Aww… Dinosaur Transformer, thats so touching. I'll be a liar if I didn't first think, "Wow, she saved up for months and then actually found it!" Maybe she discovered the true meaning of Christmas!

I'll actually be doing Christmas morning tomorrow, but Santa (aka me) bought me Transformers Generations Thunderwing, The Rocky Horror Picture Show (35th Anniversary Edition), and Inglorious Basterds on blu-ray. Now I just need a blu-ray player!

  17. FakeEyes22

Mentioned this in the "Happy Holidays" post, but my daughter got me a MP Grimlock! She totally bought it with her 9 year old salary!

Or, I saw a gift list she had made months ago with "Daddy – Dinosaur Transformer" at the top of it and thought that was so heart crushingly adorable that I bought it myself and arranged for my mom to play along in helping her buy it for me. She was more excited to give me this thing than opening the crap-ton of her own stuff under the tree. Not a bad way to justify the $70 I wasn't likely going to spend on it otherwise.

There's a new AT-AT around here somewhere that I've been waiting to dig into as a gift to myself after buying it on sale for $49. I wanted something fun for myself since I don't like asking for stuff, especially not stuff like this.

I did get several great and geeky Blu-Rays that I mentioned to the girlfriend and family while they were on sale. And I finally get to dive into Red Dead Redemption.

  18. Khaosbringer

I got a pretty nice haul this year.

    Heavy Rain for the PS3.

A 750mL bottle of Knob Creek bourbon.

1001 Video Games to Play Before You Die (Book).

    A Columbia Jacket.

GadgetGloves (You can still use touchscreen devices while wearing them).

    House slippers.

    Mage: The Hero Discovered HC

    CHEW: Omnivore Edition HC.

    JVC Black Gummi Earbuds.

    A Bluetooth Caller ID Wristwatch.

Super Mario All-Stars for the Wii.

And Coming Soon: A Red Wii.

    😀

  19. I've already got something that needs to be in a show and tell.

  20. Fengschwing

No toys for me this year, most of my relatives don't 'get' my hobby, but my fantastic in-laws (parents and sister) got me JSA, Final Crisis and Hellboy trades, so I can't knock that!

Hope everyone had a great Christmas!

Check the Doctor Who special if you get BBC America, it rocks.
