ODD: I spent some time putting together a page that will offer you, dear readers, a complete list of links to all the toy reviews I’ve written since 2002–for OAFE, Michael Crawford’s site, and even Epinions, as well as here. I’m just waiting for OB1 to give it his stamp of approval, since I actually tried to code the thing myself.
END: Is anyone else enjoying Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles as much as I am? And now that I’ve run out of CSI: Miami reruns, I’ve started watching Monk. I love DVRs.
ODD: As I tentatively dip into the waters of DC Comics, I picked up the first issue of Salvation Run. The concept, based on a decade-old pitch by Song of Fire and Ice author George R.R. Martin, is that all the major supervillains of the DCU are rounded up and exiled onto an alien planet, where they have to either govern themselves or tear each other apart. Written by Bill Willingham and Matt Sturges and featuring sharp, brightly-colored art by Sean Chen, it looks and reads like an episode of a well-written cartoon like Justice League Unlimited. The idea is rather “high concept,” and the setting on an alien planet where anything can happen is a convenient plot device, but the dialogue and character interactions are highly entertaining.
END: Some time ago, I was telling Red Kryptonite about these old toy games called T.H.I.N.G.S. (Totally Hilarious Incredibly Neat Games of Skill–why I never forgot that acronym I don’t know, though it does have an almost poetic rhythm to it). Leave it to Matt of X-E (who still owes me an interview, by the way) to memorialize these obscure toys. I’m pretty sure I had Eggzilla, and like Matt, I found it was more fun as an action figure than a game.
