Win a Keldor – Part 2!

Thanks again to all who entered our “Tweets from Snake Mountain” contest last week. That contest’s winner has already been chosen, but thanks to Poester misterbigbo, we have another Keldor to give away!

This contest is even easier. All you need to do is post a comment below naming the unannounced Masters of the Universe character you most want to see in Classics. The winner will then be selected at random from all the comments. (more…)

Ask Mattel > Answers for July 1 [Updated w/ Roundup]

1.) This may have been answered before, but I’ve never seen the answer so I’d like to ask again: does Mattel have the rights to make MOTUC figures based on the DC Comics 3-issue miniseries from the early ’80s? (For example, the evil sorcerer Damon, who originated in that comic.)

Yes. We also have rights to any new outfits or variants of MOTU figures that appear in these comics. (more…)

Grandpa Clarke, 1920-2010

Last night, surrounded by his loved ones, my grandfather passed away.

I think a lot of my love for collecting came from him. While I was growing up, his greatest passion was antique prints, but over the years he’d also collected baseball cards, books, and yes, toys. He had a number of old toy cars–pre-Hot Wheels, mostly from Britain–and a little diecast fighter plane I found fascinating as a kid, which he gave to me years ago.

Regarding the picture above–Grandpa always had a particular fondness for Master of the Universe. I remember digging out some of my He-Man stuff when I was in high school and giving it to him, and for years Castle Grayskull stood in his room. And two of my most vivid toy-related memories–receiving the Millennium Falcon, and getting Orko–happened at my grandparents’ house in Weymouth.

Grandpa lived to age 90–a long, full life. He is survived by his wife, four children, eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Rest in peace, Grandpa.

Poe Ghostal’s Points of Acquisition or, Not Another Webstore

That’s right, Poe’s selling out. Well, I will sell out if everything in my store is sold.

Yes, I’ve opened up a webstore, Poe Ghostal’s Points of Acquisition. Right now the only product there is an extra MOTUC Faker I have on hand, but I’ll probably also be throwing up random stuff from my collection from time to time: loose figures, perhaps some bags of accessories, Marvel Legends display stands, that sort of thing.

However, the reason I created the store in the first place was for a specific product which will be revealed very soon. Here’s a hint: it’s an exclusive!

My thanks to MechaShiva, as always, for the excellent art.
