Contest > Win a Funko Dark Knight Rises Batman from Superheroden.com!

Batman_Chibi_Bobble1

Superheroden.com has kindly donated a Dark Knight Rises Funko POP! figure for a contest here on PGPoA. Make your other Funko POP! figures swear to him by filling in the blanks in our second “Bat-Libs” contest!

Here’s how to enter: I’ve written a small paragraph about Batman and Robin engaging in their usual heroic derring-do. (To avoid any accusations of having tailored the paragraph to a particular entry, I’m sending it to the Power Pals ahead of time.)

This paragraph has a few blanks – blanks YOU must fill. In the comments below, provide the following:

  • An adjective
  • A plural animal/person noun (cows, punks, etc.)
  • A transitive verb (i.e., a verb in which you do something to something else – push, kiss, kill, etc.)
  • A person’s name

Entries are due by 11:59pm Monday, December 17. The winning entry will be selected by me and will be announced by the end of next week. Good luck, and be sure to visit Superhero Den for more great Batman and superhero merchandise!

Rules:

  • Winner must have a U.S. shipping address for the prize to be mailed to.
  • PGPoA Power Pals and Poe’s friends and family not eligible.

Contest > Tweets from Snake Mountain (Win a MOTUC Keldor!)

A few weeks ago, Brian Adams of Cool and Collected decided to find out what all the fuss was about by attempting to order a MOTUC Keldor off Mattycollector.com. He succeeded, and he wrote up his experiences in a post on his blog:

I understand how difficult it can be to run a web site (but I can only imagine what it’s like to run a successful one). The conspiracy theorist in me thinks that Mattycollector may be intentionally making this process difficult to build up the hype machine and make their items appear more scarce and collectible than they might otherwise be. Or maybe they really do just have a lousy processing setup.

Much like securing 50-yard line tickets to the big game, there is an inherent competitiveness going on here, where part of the fun is the bragging rights you get if you actually manage to reach the final checkout page with all your items.

Brian successfully got himself a Keldor and Peter Venkman, but failed to get a She-Ra. The good news (for you) is that Brian doesn’t want the Keldor, and has offered it to the winner of a contest run right here on PGPoA.

Contest > Choose Your Weapon (Prize: MOTUC Weapons Pak)

You too can turn your He-Man from a gray harness-wearing barbarian with only mild fashion issues to a full-blown atrocity that would drive Tim Gunn to use his namesake on himself. How, you ask? By winning the PGPoA “Choose Your Weapon” contest! The prize is a brand-spanking-new, still-in-the-white-mailer MOTUC Weapons Pak. (Read the official PGPoA review!)

All you have to do to enter is leave a comment below naming your favorite action figure accessory of all time. Feel free to go into detail as to why it’s your favorite, but all you have to do to enter is name it and the figure it came with.

RÜLZ:

  1. Contest ends on Sunday, May 9th at 11:59pm.
  2. The winner will be selected at random.
  3. Only U.S. and Canadian residents are eligible. I know there are lots of Poesters in other countries and I love you all, but those shipping costs are getting painful.
  4. Only one entry per person. I check IPs and so forth, but really, just don’t be a jerk.

“Make Your MasterPOEce” Stage 2: The Poll

The entries are in, and it’s time to take the “Make Your MasterPOEce” contest to the next stage. Originally, the plan was to choose the top 3 entries and then have you, the people, vote on it, but after seeing all the great entries, we decided to change it up a bit. Instead of just three, I’m going to post every

entry below.

Check them out, then vote in the sidebar for your favorites. You can choose up to 3 favorites. Please review all the entries before you vote. Let’s give everyone their due!

The poll starts today and ends on midnight Eastern time on Teela Day, October 15 (meaning 11:59 PM on the 15th, just before it becomes the 16th).

The prizes, as you’ll recall, are as follows: For the Grand Prize Winner, a custom MOTUC Poe Ghostal based on their design created by Passion Designs, Inc., as well as a carded 2002 He-Man signed by the Four Horsemen. The runner-up wins a MOTUC Mer-Man. In the event of a tie, the winner(s) will be decided via a run-off poll.

Let’s meet the contestants! I’m going to post them in the order they were received.

Poe’s 150th Review Contest Spectacular

mosaic

As I’ve mentioned, my next toy review will be my 150th review–not exactly a record when compared to the likes of Michael Crawford or yo go re, but a milestone for me, anyway.

As such, I’m holding a contest to celebrate my next review. Here are the prizes:

  • One Grand Prize Winner will get a set of MOC DCUC Booster Gold (both variants), The Flash, Captain Cold, Killer Moth, and an official Mattel DCUC poster from last year’s Comic Con.
  • One First Runner-up receives a loose Hawkman and a loose Big Barda (w/ accessories but no BAF parts)

The contest is easy. You guys know what sort of figures I tend to review (here’s the link to a list of all the reviews I’ve written–be sure to check it before you make your guess). All you need to do is write a comment below with two things:

  1. A guess as to what figure I’ll review next, and
  2. A random number between 1-200.

People can guess the same figure as someone else, but try not to repeat the same numbers. I’ve already selected the figure I’ll be reviewing next and informed both Dr. Mrs. Ghostal and the Power Pals (Paul, Pete, and PrfktTear), none of whom are eligible for the contest.

The winner will be the person who guesses the correct figure and has the number closest to the winning number, which was randomly chosen by Dr. Mrs. Ghostal prior to this post being published. The runners-up will be broken down first by whether or not they guessed the correct figure, then by how close their number is (so for instance, if no one except the Grand Prize Winner guesses the correct figure but someone gets the number exactly right, that person will get the First Runner-Up prize, the next closest number gets the Second Runner-Up prize, and so forth). If there’s a tie–as in, two people pick the same figure but their number is equidistant from the winning number, I’ll flip a coin to determine who gets the Grand Prize and who’s First Runner-up.

The contest ends at 11:59pm EDT on Thursday April 2, 2009. Good luck!

Everybody into the Pool – DCUC Wave 4

(NOTE: Contest is now closed. Good luck all!)

You know the rules by now – you pick a day, post it in a comment below, and if my case of DCUC Wave 4 arrives on that day (or closest to your chosen day), you win the extra figure. It looks like this time it will be a Batman Beyond figure.

Is it fun? You bet! Just ask our previous winners, AskedForIt and Dwaltrip. Both of whom are eligible again. And I totally heard them say they were going to beat you this time, too. Are you going to take that?

Contest > Everybody into the Pool – Again

As you can see by my Flickr photostream, I did indeed–finally–get my second wave of DCUC figures, though it required a trip to the local UPS warehouse after hours. My thanks to Cornerstorecomics for their prompt shipping and excellent customer service.

As for the wait, at least Mattel is being honest about wave three and telling us to expect it in early July.
