Wizard World Philly Roundup

IMG_5018

First off, my immense thanks to Doubledumbassonyou for kindly taking some photos of the Four Horsemen’s WWP booth for you to enjoy. Let’s all thank him and, more importantly, click the link and stop by his blog for a spell.

There wasn’t a whole lot of toy news from Mattel or the Four Horsemen, as they’re saving that up for SDCC, but I was able to dig up a few nuggets of information here and there. They also had prototypes of Teela, Webstor, and DCUC Question on display, as well as Egon and Ray from Ghostbusters. (You can find some photos of Teela in the gallery below, and visit Pendragon’s Post for more). (more…)

Four Horsemen’s Queen and Her Court Roundup (Updated)

UPDATE: You can pre-order Biggara and Baddathiir here, Akkuli here, and Oktobria here. Will update with more pre-order links as they appear.

I’d booked a half-hour or so to put together a roundup of all the Four Horsemen’s various Queen figures announced in the past week, but FANtastic Exclusive user xrmc20 beat me to the punch and has very kindly allowed me to copy and paste his write-up here. So be sure thank him, not me–my only contribution was being lazy. (more…)

5 Questions With > Rustin Parr

Today we have an interview with a good friend of mine, Rustin Parr of OAFE. Rustin and I first met through OAFE in the early 1990s, and despite living on separate coasts, we’ve met in person many times since then. An passionate if idiosyncratic movie buff, Haunted Mansion enthusiast, and King Leonidas look-alike (well, maybe not the abs, but the face, anyway), Rustin has agreed to bare just a bit of his soul to us here at PGPoA.

338381890_lCode name: Scott McEachen, alias Rustin Parr, alias Gunstas von Artlefuasdensein, D.D.S.
Specialty: Dreaming Big and Accomplishing Small
Base of Operations: Monterey, CA
History: Began the adventure in gorgeous Hermosa Beach, California, whence an egregious lust for action figuring took hold. A lack of sculpting ability and painting prowess propelled him into the world of Motion Picture production whose frivolities spat the man into the cutting edge of Neuro Marketing during which a healthy imbibing of toys and movies keeps the life juices flowing. It was a hot and sunny day when a close personal friend, the self-titled Lord of the Nazgul, brought together Rustin with Yo Go Re and Poe Ghostal, all posters at the formerly awesome and important/relevant spawn.com message boards, the latter two being founding members of oafe.net. After one particularly long and laugh-riddled evening in which Rustin performed his then-constant desperate rage upon the unprepared Yo’n’Poe towards falsely accused inept waitresses and rightfully, if not righteously accused George Lucas and his modern films, Poe’n’Yo dragged the Froce’o’da’nature into the fold at OAFE where on Rustin continues to this day to be less entertaining than that first eve and less consistent in producing reviews than his editor would prefer. Rustin is survived by his collection projected to consist of over 2,000 individual action figures, 500 hundred vehicle and location replicas 9in varying scales) and hundreds of plus-sized and resin collectibles, not to mention a DVD collection of some 1200 discs.

THE QUEEN AND HER COURT – PART 3

The past couple of days of “The Queen and Her Court”, have introduced you to a few of the warrior women from the Four Horsemens’ fan-favorite property, “7th Kingdom”. Today will be no different as we bring to you three more fatal female furies.

Each of today’s offerings will be made available through a different online retailer, toy news website, or action figure magazine.

THE QUEEN AND HER COURT – PART 2

Second is the gleaming elemental – Kromius. Available through The Fwoosh (http://www.TheFwoosh.com), the extremely limited Kromius will go fast.

Last up for today is the first of two exclusives to be carried by Big Bad Toy Store (http://www.BigBadToyStore.com), the fair-furred feline fighter – Biggara.

While I’d like to order the entire set of these, as of right now I just can’t afford them all. But I’m definitely getting two: Kromius and the mechanical one, once she’s revealed.

Monday morning MOTUC missives

motu-classics_225

Just a couple things for those of you who only come here for your MOTUC news (MisterBigBo, maybe?).

–The secret accessory that comes with Tri-Klops is an adult-size version of the glow-in-the-dark “Grayskull ring.” My thoughts: a nice bonus for particularly nostalgic fans, but not something I’m interested in. I would rather have had a second sword based on the card art. But I have no problems with the ring, and I’m glad those who wanted it get it.

One question, though–those three daggers on his back are supposed to be removable, right? They’re not mentioned among his accessories on his Mattycollector.com page.

–I really like Man-At-Arms’ bio, particularly because it incorporates the concept the Four Horsemen initially developed for the 2002 MOTU line, where Skeletor had united the two halves of the Power Sword (which was what that crazy split sword he had was supposed to be) while Duncan built the techno-sword (and the Sorceress enchanted it) as a replacement.

–Speaking of the techno-sword, in response to a poster who said it was identical to the 2002 sword, the Horsemen wrote, “We thought of that. Compare this version of the 200X Power Sword to one of the originals. We ‘classic-ized’ this version. They look similar, but they’re not the same.” For your convenience, I’ve prepared this side-by-side comparison pic.

–On a side note, I’ll try to get to my Zodac review today or tomorrow. I think it’s going to seem rather superfluous after Michael Crawford’s exhaustive review, though.
