Poe’s Point > Thoughts on Online Comics Archives
[Poe’s note: This is a bit of an experiment. It’s not exactly a toy-related post, and I do prefer to maintain my laser-like focus on toys, lest I water down the brand by making PGPoA yet another pop culture commentary/news site. So please, post a comment and let me know whether you find this interesting or would rather I stick to toy stuff. I have a few ideas for columns like this, but I can always post them over on my other blog, where I posted this one first.]
Marvel Comics has a great online service called Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited, which allows users to read thousands of back issues for a monthly fee. It’s awesome, but I’m a DC guy these days, and I just don’t get why DC Comics hasn’t done it yet. If they did, I’d sign up in a second. (more…)
Paul’s Peg > Finally, a Cap I Can Stand Behind
Marvelous News has got some images of the Marvel Universe Secret Wars comic two packs that will hit shelves later this summer. They simply look fantastic and if you’re a MOC collector you shouldn’t be disappointed. I’m just happy that I will be able to get the chance to get my hands on a Captain America with wings on his head. I’m sorry, but the newfangled wingless Captain America is not my Captain America. My Cap has wings on his head and the constant ringing of Star Spangled Banner in his ears. I’m also really excited to get a Klaw figure for my superheroes to beat the crap out of.
I’m also looking forward to the Wolverine coming in this series. The brown costume one from the Origins series of figures that I picked up was horribly painted and I returned him to the store. Hopefully this one will be a little bit better in both the paint and articulation departments.
The Spider-Man pack is basically Hasbro telling me that I can save a few bucks.
Iron Man Armored Adventures figures
A 3 3/4″ figure with no evident ball joints…I guess the research at Hasbro (and Mattel) shows young kids really don’t care about articulation when begging their parents for toys.
Still, the figures look pretty good…
Marvel Chicken
Good morning folks!
A lot of you have probably already seen this, but for those of you who don’t visit any other geek-oriented websites, Marvel has produced its own Robot Chicken-like video featuring MODOK bawling out an A.I.M. henchman, Christian Bale-style. It’s apparently the first of a series titled Marvel Super Heroes: What The–?! It’s funny, largely due to the top-notch voice work on MODOK (and the way his little arms and legs flail around). The production values are pretty good too.
