Odds ‘n Ends > Amazon SDCC contest, WWE meets MOTU, Warlords & Warriors

  • Amazon is having a contest on their Facebook page for a pretty awesome SDCC Exclusives prize pack. If you win and don’t want the Godzilla exclusive, you know where to find me.
  • Pixel-Dan reports that WWE.com will soon have a weekly “WWE meets MOTU” feature on Thursdays, showing Masters of the Universe action figures tangling with WWE wrestlers (figures, not actual wrestlers). That’s…cool? But kinda weird, too? I still think Mattel should let Triple H dress up as He-Man for an event.
  • I picked up the first issue of the official He-Man and the Masters of the Universe comic from DC. I’ll have a review up soon. Anyone else pick it up? Thoughts?
  • USA Today also had an article on MOTU and its 30th anniversary recently, which also reveals the cover to the third minicomic.
  • You may, like me, have also missed this interview with the Four Horsemen about Draego-Man.
  • Check out this interview over at Infinite Hollywood with the folks behind the vintage-licious Warlords and Warriors indie toy line.
  • PGPoA Power Pal PrfktTear has a review of He-Ro over at Doomkick.
  • I just know I’m forgetting something…

1.) Mecha-Shiva asks: The SDCC exclusive Blazing sword Voltron is awesome and greatly underrated, any chance of making a Vehicle Voltron?

There are no plans at this time but keep those requests coming!

2.) Zach asks: When will DCAS characters such as Superman and the Flash have an “‘open handed” sculpt for such poses as flying and running, and be able to look up again?

Toy Aisle Trolls > Not Yo’ Man

Toy Aisle Trolls is a feature highlighting acts of vandalism to in-store toy items. If you find a ruined package, a stolen figure, a swapped-out figure, or any other such acts, take a photo (cell phone photos are fine if they’re not blurry) and email them to poe AT poeghostal.com.

What It’s Supposed to Look Like: This

BP writes:

Hello Poe, I wanted to share my Toy Aisle Troll find here in Kansas City Ks. I was at the local Toys R Us and found this WWE All Stars set and thought that the Macho Man Randy Savage figure looked a little different. Turns out that someone swapped out the Elite Macho Man with a basic Matt Hardy. Whats even more messed up is that when I first found the package, we got sidetracked and I didn’t get to tell an employee. We came back probably a month later and it was still sitting on the shelf. This time I made sure to tell someone.

Joshq asks: Regarding the DC All-Stars reveals: is what we see what we get? Will there be additional pack-ins or accessories?

Some figures will include accessories. For example, Larfleeze will come with a lantern.

Andy asks: What was the reasoning behind the character selection for DCUC All Stars series 1? Because is seems to conflict with the aforementioned intent of this line which was to select mainstream characters for a broader appeal.

1.) Josh asks: The WWE figures utilize the basic, elite, and defining moments methods of selling figures and different price points. Would this model ever be considered for DCUC to get more “deluxe” versions of figures? For instance, a Superman with a cloth cape or even a Clark Kent outfit; A batman with cloth cape and accessories.

Always a possibility but nothing is planned right now.

2.) Chris asks: Regarding WWE,the knee and elbow pads restrict movement. Would it be possible to switch to a more sponge like material that would allow free movement but retain it’s natural shape?

First off, I apologize for the post title. I’m not even sure it works pronunciation-wise.

I actually have a backlog of these T.A.T.s right now…sad really. Anyway, today’s comes from Poester 3B.

Writes 3B:

I found this one at Target. It appears to be a blatant in-house swap. The figure inside the box is Jeff Jarrett from Jakks Pacific’s TNA line. You’ll notice the figure is still in it’s original hexagonal bubble and was just stuffed inside the Mattel box. The odd thing is Mattel’s Elite figures have been on sale for $10 for several weeks now. That’s the same price the TNA figures sell for.

Ask Mattel > Answers for Mid-March

1.) The Batman : Legacy figures look great. Regarding Two-Face: will he come with an alternate, non-coin-holding right hand (hopefully one that can hold a gun)?

No.

2.) The Movie Masters figures tended to be in a slightly smaller, more “realistic-to-humans” scale than DCUC. Will the Arkham Asylum figures be closer to Movie Masters or DCUC, in terms of scale and style?

Ask Mattel > Answers for March 1

1.) Elvis8Batman asks: DCUC. Do you plan on completing both the young sidekick versions of the Teen Titans team and the older Perez era version of the team as at the moment they are half and half?

Ideally, in time, we’ll get to both.

2.) RM asks: As a huge Shawn Michaels fan, and a fan of your fantanstic Elite-style WWE figures, I’ve been very much looking forward to adding a Mattel Shwn Michaels to my collection. One thing however has prevented me from doing so; the complete lack of chest hair on every Shawn Michaels figure to date. Shawn’s chest hair (and stubble) are trademark aspects of his “look”, and his figures just don’t look right without. Is there any chance that future Shawn Michaels figures going forward may have paint applications to correct this, to give fans the accruate figures that they desire?

Poester 3B sends in another one:

Says 3B:

I encountered this at Toy R Us. I usually see this with Mattel’s WWE Elite line as the package is easier to reseal and the vandals swap out the new figures with old Jakks Pacific versions of the same wrestler. But this guy not only replaced the figures with different wrestlers, but he STAPLED the bubble back on to the card.

I’m not really familiar with professional wrestling, so I’ll leave it to you to decide exactly which painful move should be inflicted on the piece of canine fecal matter who did this.
