The 8.99 price for JLU stopped me from buying the Superman w/ Kandor figure. I've already got Superman and Kandor (no matter how neat) is not worth 9 bucks.

I'm not quite sure I buy Matty's excuses in skirting the issue regarding the JLU prices. Yes, retailers can certainly charge what they want on certain products, but manufactures can also set a price limit for an item: i.e. books, magazines, video game consoles, dvd's, etc.

Still, unless a store is located in a mall or has to pay premium rental costs because it doesn't own the building, it is rare to see a retailer charge more than the MSRP.

Furthermore, at Hasbro's annual shareholder's conference (accessible online), the question came up as to why Hasbro's boys lines weren't selling more units. Hasbro's CEO commented that they had overpriced themselves, and had recently lowered their MSRP. Look how major retailers have already dropped the price on Hasbro lines. Either Mattel doesn't have that kind of sway,or the 8.99 a figure for JLU is MSRP.

I've heard people saying that Matty keeps them up on the site for 2 weeks and then sends off anything that didn't sell so that it can be ordered by Target, Wal-Mart, etc., so it doesn't seem like they're losing anything. I order all my stuff through Enchanted Toy Chest for only a few bucks more than Matty, but with ETC, I know I'll get them around when I hear people say they're seeing them in stores.

Totally agree about the ridiculousness of the answer regarding the DCUC waves on mattycollector. Neither lasted all that long. They've got to assume that this sort of things works best for those of us who cannot find DCUC in the wild anymore (like me!) while there were probably plenty of people who passed because they could actually find figures where they live! I'll get wave 13 through them, but if they drop it I'll just have to start pre-ordering from BBTS since I live in a wasteland for figures.

I believe the entire AFI Q&A is soley to make DCUC collectors feel bad for Mattel and ashamed that we haven't "supported the line enough" and contributed to "poor sales." Screw you, Matty! Take responsibility for your own product decisions.
