I think if Mattel starts offering the C&Cs separately, it will keep people new to the line from buying the figures for the pieces (not that you can find Gentleman Ghost) if they only want the C&C, and people might stop buying regular figures in future waves if they only want the C&C figure and they think Mattel will eventually release them separately. If people want the C&Cs only, they can go to ebay or try various forums.
How come you insist on telling us that the dcuc wave packs that are sold on matty do not make enough money even though they are a secondary prouduct for the people that cant find them in stores i no i can not find them in stores so the wave packs are great if u want to stop selling them on matty then make them easier to find!
@Dead Man Walking: Its not just the materials cost, its the assembly as well. Whatever savings might be achieved by a cheaper soft goods suit could be outweighed by higher costs for the peasant workers to put the suit on the figure.
As for a question…
I’m a big fan of Wil Wheaton, who voiced the Ted Kord Blue Beetle in the Batman Brave and the Bold cartoon. What are the odds of getting a Ted Kord Blue Beetle figure in either the regular figure line or the “Action League” series? Could this possibly be a MattyCollector exclusive like the JLU Lobo?
@dayraven: Given that Mattel trademarked "The Ferocious Figure with Fur!" a couple of months ago, my money's on Grizzlor having soft goods fur. They already showed they were willing to go that route with Moss Man.
Inspired by DC Infinite Heroes SDCC Starro pack, it got me to thinking that older Collect 'n' Connect figures such as Giganta, Atom Smasher, Chemo, etc could come fully assembled and offered in some kind of 2 or 3 figure pack in the price range of the current DC Infinite Heroes 6 packs. Here they'd offer a larger character that would be in scale with the DC Infinite Heroes and would allow DCIH fans to get size variable characters and allow DCUC fans to be able to gain access to a complete CnC.
@dayraven: About Grizzlor, if my memory serves me well, Toy Guru said somewhere that "he was fighting for fur"… So, I don't think the fur will be sculpted at all. I believe Mattel will go to the cheapest way.
I think Grizzlor might be doable with the fur suit. Give him he-man's body, Beast Man's hordak's feet and greaves. Or did he have boots? I can't remember! =)
@dayraven: I'm interested to hear Mattel's answer on Grizzlor, but you gotta figure that throwing a piece of cheap fake fur on a He-Man Body is gonna be a lot cheaper than sculpting and tooling anything that would approximate Grizzlor.
It has been almost three months since collectors have heard anything about the status of the Batman the Brave and the Bold Action League. Does Mattel have a forecast for when the next wave will be released? Also, what is the status of the Dr. Polaris/Guy Gardner pack?
when we get grizzlor, has it decided yet how he'll be done, if the fur will be sculpted or a body suit like the original? is this something they would turn to the fans for, like flocking for panthor or moss man?
Mattel continues to insist that it will not do a fan's choice figure for MOTUC because of the varying levels of unique tooling that figures require. However, Mattel is in the driver seat here–why not present the fans with three choices for figures with comparable amounts of new tooling, such as Battle Armor Skeletor, Terror Claws Skeletor, and Thunderpunch He-Man, and allow fans to determine which will be the next bonus figure?

CAN WE SPECT A LESS CARTOONISH SILVER BANSHEE,ICILE AND A "METALIZED" MAYOR FORCE FOR OUR DCUC COLLECTION?

The new MotUC bios always have some sort of grammatical typo in the finished product. Do these bios get proofread before they are printed?
DCUC Iron came with iron accessories. Does Gold come with gold accessories?
Will regular Toy Story figures be available on mattycollector?
What other properties does the Ghostbuster license covers besides the movies?

@Mysterious Stranger: Fair enough, but if I had to bet my life on it, I’d say Matty is going soft goods.

@Poe: well crapanittly, yes, i don't know who else would require "the ferocious figure with fur" so, i guess i need a new question…
did the weapons pack do well enough to justify another?

How many different dcuc things are we to see at SDCC?

@Mario: Hmm. Tooling versus cheap soft goods…

Like all your products how come TRU in USA get the Mego style Retro Action figures and the UK does not?
Surely the amount of people in the UK ordering from Matyy should let you know there is a market for your products.
Besides Toy Story the only other Mattel figures in TRU UK is Batman TDK and Brave and Bold, all in the clearance section.

I like how you're all assuming that fur for Grizzlor would "of course" be cheaper.

As I was going to St. Ives
I met a man with seven wives
Each wife had seven sacks
Each sack had seven cats
Each cat had seven kits
Kits, cats, sacks, wives
How many were going to St. Ives?
