Matty’s Masquerade > And the Winner Is…

I didn’t get quite as many submissions as I’d hope for my Matty Masquerade contest, but I suppose that’s what happens when you require more than just a comment. Nonetheless, there were definitely some fun entries.

First off, Honorable Mention goes to cartoonist Bill White, who hails from my own native Massachusetts South Shore. While Bill’s piece is excellent, it doesn’t quite follow the rules as I’d intended them (you could redraw Matty’s face, but I didn’t mean to say you could draw an entire scene around him; I’m sure more people would have done that, given the option). Nonetheless, it deserves to be appreciated, so I hereby present Bill’s strip for your approval:

Be sure to visit Bill’s website for many more cartoons.

Now, the official runners-up.

First up, here’s RM Radcliffe with what I call “Beast Matty.”

Poester BG seems to be indulging in a bit of editorializing with his entry, which I’m calling “Mattochio”:

Next we have Newton Gimmick, who transformed Matty into iconic horror host Svengoolie:

Here’s Reverend Ender with what I’m calling “the Termattyator”:

Next, Doc_OCK_4MUGEN submitted an “Anime Hyper Detailed” version of Matty’s head. If you put Matty’s head in a machine and pressed the “200X” button, this is what you’d get.

Next we have not one, not two, but three entries by Poester Nik. I love all three of those, and if the winner hadn’t submitted his piece, I think the Stay-Puft Mattymellow Man would have won.

But the big winner, who gets the very last Dread Axe of Darkness currently available, is Paddy Fitz, who thought a bit outside the box with his submission:

This Halloween, Matty’s going as “logistics.”

Given recent events, I couldn’t resist this one.

Congratulations to all who entered! Don’t be surprised if your image shows up on one of my “Any questions for Mattel?” posts, because, well, that was the ulterior motive behind this contest in the first place.

And if you didn’t win, fear not–I’ll have another contest up tomorrow!
