  • The Grizzlor early reviews are coming in. You can find Pixel Dan’s review in the previous post, and here’s Fwoosh’s first look. Fwoosh also has first looks of King Grayskull and the second Weapons Pak.
  • The Guess-the-Weapon contest is over and a winner has been chosen. I’ll announce both the weapon and the winner very soon (hopefully tonight, but early next week at the latest).
  • Got a ton of reviews in the hopper–pics are taken, now I just have to the really hard part: the writing.
  • Count Dr. Mrs. Ghostal and I among the converted for the new BBC show Sherlock. We’ve only watched the first ep, but it’s fantastic. Of course, due to the lag between the BBC and BBC America, the DVD and Blu-Ray actually come out next week, before the season has even finished airing over here. Oh, and the guy who plays Holmes is named Benedict Cumberbatch. Only in England.
  • Speaking of Sherlock, and therefore Steven Moffat, and therefore Doctor Who, the next Doctor Who figure assortments contains the usual crazy gaggle of robots/monsters/smartly-dressed types. God help me if I ever get into Doctor Who.
  • You should immediately go play Organ Trail, an Oregon Trail tribute game about zombies. It’s awesome.

    @PrfktTear: Either side of the Atlantic, that's not going to end well…

    @Feng: Kiss my fanny!

  3. Fengschwing

    Bloody heck, just as well I didn't nip out to smoke a fag!

  4. Mysterious Stranger

    Kinda disappointed that Grizzlor's fur suit is glued on. I thought it was going to be removable.

  5. Dead Man Walking

    @dayraven: What the hell are you talking about? I was just amused (thus the "Lol") about how a word in the context of where Feng comes from is a good thing, but where I come from is a derogatory thing. In no way was I suggesting that I, or anyone else, found it offensive.

    Classic dayraven.

    @Fengschwing: oh for crying out loud… did anyone think he meant that as a racial slur? seriously dude, i get prudence, but this is overly cautious. no one on poe's thinks feng is a racist, even if they don't get brit slang. it wouldn't even make sense in context.

  7. Dead Man Walking

    @Fengschwing: Lol. I know what you mean, but in American English "cracker" is a derogatory term for Caucasians.

  8. Fengschwing

    @Jesús: It's a cracker. I have two.

    @Fengschwing: What about Amy Pond´s action figure?,it´s nice.

    @Raven6859:

    Cool man, thanks for the info…

  11. @Fengschwing: The Doctor Who figures aren't too badly priced over here in all honesty given that they're imports and the quality is top notch. The only thing that really hurts is that popular figures tend to have the prices raised on them and since maybe 1 in 1,000 stores actually carry them in shop, you usually get hit with shipping charges.

    That said, none of the characters in the latest North American assortments really call out to me. The UK is getting a whole wave of Daleks that as of yet haven't been announced yet here.

    In fact, that's the biggest gripe right now in the US… The new Daleks are being distributed in strange ways and certain stores are getting exclusives.

    Of course, we still don't have announcements on US releases of either of the latest classic sets, neither Daleks or Cybermen. Blargh!

    @Mountain-man: I watch Sarah Jane Adentures. It's a kid's show, but I find it a lot of fun. I guess you could ease into it with the episodes starring the Doctor!

    Shame about the Sarah Jane toyline though.

    I've been catching up on Dr Who this past year, started with the latest season while it was airing (actually, I watched a Torchwood movie about the kids before that)and am up to the 3rd season. Can't get enough.

    I'll have to check out Sherlock now for sure. Anybody watch Sarah Jane chronicles? Is that worth checking out?

  14. Fengschwing

    @PrfktTear: Well, the figures tend to get released at around the £10 mark which is still pretty high, but then they quickly drop to £4.99 in a lot of supermarkets. The 11th Doctor's TARDIS came out for £15 which is a total bargain and you can get a lot of 5 figure sets for £25. Also, the 11 Doctor box set is £49 here, less than £5 a figure, a really great deal. I expect you guys get totally clobbered price wise over there?

    I've only caught one part of the Sherlock Holmes series on PBS, but I definitely liked it. Unfortunately I don't get BBC America, but I will definitely seek this show out.

    I started to watch Doctor Who, I finished the first series with the Christopher Eccleston Doctor, then just started with the Tenth Doctor, but then I kinda found a job, so suddenly all my free time was consumed by this nagging 9 to 5 thing. I'd still like to continue exploring it, but right now I'm going through Buffy the Vampire Slayer for the first time, I'm currently on the fourth season. I'm just afraid of catching the DW bug since I know I'd need to own me some Daleks and the TARDIS. A friend of mine is into DW and he's got quite the impressive collection. This is one line where being over in the UK is a bonus, they run quite a bit (IMHO) over here at Newbury Comics, but then again, I'm a Matty whore, so go figure.

    King Grayskull is amazing! He looks like he might be my favorite MOTUC figure to date!!

    Grizzlor looks awesome, as well.

  17. Dead Man Walking

    Really like the new version of King Grayskull. It's not as nice as a 4H staction would have been, but I like it a lot more than the original. Glad I found some poor schmuck to pawn my old one off on.

  18. Fengschwing

    It has to be said, the Flight Control TARDIS is one of the best electronic toys ever.

    In my opinion…

  19. Barbecue17

    You should definitely get into Doctor Who.

  20. Fengschwing

    As a dyed-in-the-wool Holmes fan, I was incredibly skeptical about Sherlock but I was pleased to have my doubts over-turned. The first episode was also surprisingly close to the source material too (Watson was an Afgan vet even back then and the exchange of his pocket watch for a mobile was inspired). Plus you get to see what Bilbo is going to be like later, no?

    And what's wrong with our names, little Jacinta and Perdita seem happy enough, although Bethor and Sebathius have been out of sorts at late…

    As for Doctor Who, well Newt will attest, Character Options can really hit it out of the park, it's only the slim pickings in my wallet that hae prevented me going mental and buying loads all of them, that said, I NEED that 11 Doctor set!
