Odds ‘n Ends > August 8, 2011

  • I’m putting together what I’m calling “Bat-Week”–a week of reviews of Batman-related toys. I was hoping to do it this week, the week after Shark Week, but it didn’t come together. So it will be either next week or the week after.
  • I missed this out of SDCC, but it appears Mattel is actually looking into an opt-in option for subscribers for the six “Anniversary” figures in 2012 (Fearless Photog, Draego-Man, and the other four new characters). If that happens, I’ll be both surprised and pleased. The vehicles and Granamyr are still excluded because the pricing on them isn’t known yet (though they’ve been saying $80 for Granamyr).
  • DCUC is on sale for $9.99 at TRU this week, evidently. If you’re short on Mary Marvels or Steppenwolfs, now’s your chance to stock up.
  • Speaking of TRU, apparently the “Mad Love” Joker/Harley two-packs are hitting stores. It would be just my luck if every other Mattel DCUC 2-pack has pegwarmed but I never even see this set.
  • On a related note, I’ve started looking for the K-Mart exclusive Golden Age Batman w/ Bat-Mite. All I’ve found are empty pegs for Batman Legacy figures that haven’t been put out.

  1. I have 2 Kmarts (out of 5) in upstate NY which say they have 6 (which is a case) either in stock or en route depending on who you talk to. Neither can actually find them, and only 1 has pegs for them. Checking every other day or so @ lunch

The problem is, "maybe" just isn't good enough for me. Even the slightest risk that I'm stuck with the sub and having to pay close to $70 extra in shipping for the 30th anniversary figures is a risk I'm not willing to take (especially given at least an extra $20 guaranteed for the vehicle and the dragon.) I've only ever gotten shut out of a Matty online sale twice in the line's history so I'd rather risk the White Screen of Doom.

Pluuuuuuuuuuus…even I'm starting to hem and haw on the Star Sisters.

  4. I'll stop by my local KMart to see what I can find. Thanks for the tip 😉

  5. I *love* theme weeks. Looking forward to some Batman reviews!

The Mad Love 2pk is infuriating. I didn't snag one right when I saw it because two were really cross-eyed and the last one wasn't as much, but I have a lot of things calling for my $30 at the moment (like Bat-Mite & Catman…). And for waiting, I get penalized – $32 here now.

Actually, If anyone could help me out with a Golden Age "K-Mart" Batman, I'd be truly greatful. There's no K-Marts in Canada, & I just can't be going Stateside that often to find one. I have a perfect Ebay score, & am a goodstanding Mego Museum member, so I can be trusted if ever someone does decide they want to help out.

  7. You're finding pegs? I didn't even know they were out yet until I read OAFE's Catman review. I JUST found series 1 at Walmart. Anyway, I have an expedition into the ghetto planned after work. Hopefully, I'll be able to find Series 2 at that Kmart. If I don't end up getting shot…

I made that epedition… Didn't get shot. I was able to procure two Batmites.

    • Good to hear. Now, if it happened to be the same ghetto I was planning to infiltrate, I'll have no other choice than to come for you.

I was in Vermont this week looking for that very same Batman legacy figure (I want Bat-Mite terribly), & all I found was pegs full of some clone trooper exclusive they have. Very disappointing.
