He-Man’s back in a new iOS videogame

MOTU fans with an iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch will soon be able to play the first Masters of the Universe videogame since 2005’s He-Man: Defender of Grayskull. It’s apparently a brawler. Here’s some info from IGN:

The game takes place across seven regions of Eternia, offering up 27 total levels of action. Gamers will do battle with He-Man arch-nemesis Skeletor, as well was Beast Man and presumably the rest of Skeletor’s lieutenants. Players will be able to level-up He-Man unlocking new powers and abilities as the quest progresses.

Given how cheap iOS games are, I can definitively say I will be getting this.

My heart says ‘awesome’, my inner cynic is shouting ‘shovelware’!

  2. I do not own any of the devices to play this game, but for He-Man, I could always find a reason to get an iPad. Now if only they'd realize that a She-Ra game would be just as awesome.

  3. I'm really surprised that you're playing as that Adam nobody instead of the actual main character of MOTU. You know, the Mighty Spector.

  4. Anyone else notice how the characters look conspicuously similar to those 4H mini’s from SDCC last year? I wonder if this is to help build a retail channel for those outside of matty

Thank you! I thought I was going crazy. I really want to see those figures released, and these look very incredibly similar. Cross promotion?

    • thats my guess – I wonder if they are actually trying to do something clever here by attempting re-create mass MotU popularity along the lines of something like "Angry Birds" – a fun game becomes somewhat of a sensation and thus a stable franchise. The Mini's would be at a lower cost and small peg space and would thus be a good way to reintroduce the brand at retail and gauge interest. This could be very very interesting brand maneuvering here. Or just a coincidence.

  5. Meh, it should be on PSN or XBOX Live.

Agreed. I hope they port it over to the consoles! I don't have a smartphone.

  6. This is awesome!! I will definitely buy this. Something like this would be great on XBOX Live or PSN.

now THIS is good news! although i personally lack all the devices required to play, it offers he-man to a HUGE new audience that are very likely not all motuc buyers… but could perhaps be convinced to be. this is how you open new markets in the new millenium. now let's hope the game is good. 🙂
