Ask Mattel Roundup for mid-March

Here’s a roundup of all the Mattel Q&As from mid-March. I’ll add any new ones as they’re posted.

Interesting tidbits:

–I really can’t imagine what the “unforeseen legal issues” Mattel has with posting news on Mattycollector.com, though I suppose it has to do with Mattel being a gigantic corporation whose every move is watched by a team of liability lawyers. Possibly there’s some sort of truth-in-advertising hurdle they can bypass by using Facebook as a news organ.

–Personally, I think re-issuing some of the harder-to-find DCSH figures, such as blue Supergirl, Two-Face, Catwoman and black-and-gray Batman is an excellent idea, in regular DCUC waves is a great idea. However, as someone who already has those figures, I’d really prefer they were released as “All-Star” figures with display bases rather than coming with a BAF part.

–Great to hear Warlord is on the table for DCUC! I bet the MOTU and FANtastic Exclusive fans are happy to hear that. He’s got a new comic coming out soon, so a figure could already be in the works…

    Yea, nerdbot–

Two-Face could even come with a more classic paint job, and I want Man-Bat, too!

Yea, and what's the deal with Mattel?? I can't understand the "distribution" deal, either. Where the heck was Wave 5?? They should sell "5" thru MattyCollector, especially. And make available other figures. I may never find those Wave 5 figures.

    And…

The Doom Patrol in about 7 figures:

    1) The Chief

    2) A Bandaged Larry Trainor

    3) Negative Man

    4) Cliff Steele– Robotman

    5) Elasti-Girl (Normal size)

    6) Elasti-Girl (small size)

    7) Elasti-Girl (C&C size)

    Right??!??

    Just adding some "dittos" here:

I'd like to see re-releases of some DCSH figures. Particularly Two-Face and Man-Bat.

I don't understand why Mattel can't sell their stuff through MattyCollector either. Hasbro isn't bound by outdated "retail agreements." I can't quite grasp why the second largest toy company is so much better than the largest when it comes to distribution.

Oh man- I can't tell you how much I would love to have DCUC Doom Patrol figures!

I was a bit "bummed out" when I read this:

Matty – "Personally, now that a lot of the big guys have been done, (or are on

there way) Ambush Bug, Kamandi and members of the Legion of Superheroes

    would be great additions."

As someone who would prefer other selections of heroes than those listed…

I was disappointed in the selections of what may be the "Big 3"…coming our way.

I would far prefer The original Teen Titans, Kirby's MANHUNTER, and The Doom Patrol who will soon get their own book.

I've been very happy with most of the selections of charaters until now. Even the Original Justice Society of America would, as far as I'm concerned, be a better selection than the Legion… but I guess there are a lot of Legion fans out there. So…

Same here, Hyena. I'd be fine with certain DCSH figures being placed as singles in the DCUC line.

This wasn't really touched on in these Q&A's, but it made me think of it anyway. I still don't understand why Hasbro can offer its own retail product (25th G.I. Joe, Marvel Universe, etc.) on HasbroToyShop.com, but Mattel can't do the same on MatytCollector.com.

I remember Matty saying something about agreements with retail partners not allowing them to sell regular DCUC/IH on MattyCollector. I think that would significantly help the JLU and DCUC multipacks that aren't selling as well.

    Um…YEAH.

I'd be all over them rereleasing the likes of Two-Face, Catwoman, Luthor, Brainiac, and Darkseid w/ stands.
