MOTUC Orko confirmed for 2010

orko

Tucked away in Action Figure Pics’s Q&A was the revelation that Orko will be a part of MOTUC in 2010.

I know that won’t excite all of you, but since there seem to be a good number of He-Fans around here I thought I’d mention it.

The question is, how will he be available? As his own figure? As an accessory to a figure or Battle Cat? In a two-pack with Kowl? As a special incentive for subscribers?

    ::sigh:: thank you.

  2. Poe

@Scott: Well, since you asked so nicely… πŸ˜‰

    We'll look into it.

    *THEY

CAN THE POESTERS PLEASE GET AN EDIT FEATURE???

  4. Scott

The can't do any Filmation characters like Uncle Montork or Dree Elle, but I wonder if they can do generic Trollans.

If not, how about just pack him with Kowl?

  5. Drunken Fist

I also thought of him as a Battle Cat pack-in as soon as I read this news. If he's scaled properly, it'd be perfect to toss him in there. I really like the idea of a multi-pack with Orko and some Trollan elders, though. (Plus, they could double for cousins of the DCU's Guardians!)

I suspect the Ghostbusters Slimer figure will give us a good sense of what a MOTUC Orko would be like.

Frankly, while I liked the design of the 2002 Orko, he was way too big. I hope MOTUC Orko is only about, say, 3" to 3&#189" tall.

    @PrfktTear, that would be cool.

I would deffinently get him, hopefully he will come with Teela or some other character but I would deffinently be up for a set of Orko and Dreelle etc. Maybe even one of the Widgets.

  8. “Knowing Mattel he’ll just use the He-Man body with a new head.”

And then they’ll release a blue variant called Forko.

  9. I'm thinking it may be a set. Orko could have great articulation. Just look at the 4 Horsemen Time Keeper guys.

There has been a lot of push for Trollans thus far in the line. So either a two or three pack with Orko and some Trollan elders?

  10. Never thought I’d say this about an MotUC figure, but I’m definitely getting him,

  11. Knowing Mattel he’ll just use the He-Man body with a new head.

    Heh.

I called Orko a while back. I knew he was part of the 2010 lineup. Orko’s probably the #3 guy in terms of importance in the original cartoon.

  12. maybe they'll release a Trollan set with Dreelle and a couple others! πŸ˜‰

  13. I donno… I like the original Orko… I think we can look to Gleek to get an idea about what to expect… minimal articulation. I think they can do a lot to improve on the '80s toy. Personally I wasn't all that impressed by the '02 update. Its cool, and it fits in better with the story, but it wouldn't fit in with Classics.

I think packaging him with Battle Cat is a great idea. You know BC is gonna be at least $40 or $50 and thats all by himself, so if they can put Orko in there, it'll at least add some value to it and make it a set.

I guess the other thing they could do is just make him a solid piece of plastic like the doomseeker and give him a clear plastic stand to make him float on.

I'm cool with my 200X Orko. I mean, besides adding elbow joints, what more can they do to improve upon him?

  15. I want him to look like cartoon Orko. F messing with him. I'd never pay 20 bucks for him though.

  16. RageTreb

Past characters have been "updated" sufficiently enough to maintain a lot of the bad-ass-ness that was present in the 2002 line. I think we have every reason to expect Orko will be another fantastic blend of classic and new features, with just the right amounts of both.

  17. Hells yes, Replicant; the 2002 version looked legitimately cool. I'm stumped as to what even the Horsemen can do with Orko without redesigning him.

  18. Replicant

I like the 2002 Orko. I'll have to wait and see how a Classics Orko would look before I decide on purchasing him.

  19. finkrod

I got no problem with Orko. But like Rage said, he doesn't really fit into any real catagory packaging-wise. Unless they're gonna go all out with some crazy accessories to fill a single figure pack. But even then, $28 would be asking a bit much for the little guy.

  20. RageTreb

He's too small to justify his own $20 figure, yet I think he's a little too big to be an accessory (without increasing the size of the MOTUC boxes, anyway), and packaging him with Battle Cat would just up the price even more. Two-pack is possible, but given Orko's importance and size, I'm betting he'll be the subscriber bonus Mattel mentioned earlier. Failing that, he'd make an excellent SDCC exclusive.

As long as I'm told how to go about buying him well in advance, though, I don't care how he's released. πŸ˜›
