MOTUC Unbound

I just wanted to highlight this. If you want to get an idea of what pretty much any character you can think of might look in the MOTUC style, check out the fan art of He-Man.org member The Raw. Here’s his Chief Carnivus, created back in January:

As you can see, he guessed correctly about a lot of the re-used parts (and I don’t think we can blame him too much for assuming Mattel would re-use more parts than they did).

He’s got tons of other characters in there, up to and including Plundor (who, sadly, is a Filmation character we won’t see unless Mattel finally buys the rights). He’s even taken a crack at some of the Meteorbs!

Some other cool ones:

hi everyone…and thx, i just wrote Poe Ghostal, that it´s so much fun to redesign all those characters and to play "4 Horsemen" a little bit and with all those very very nice comments there and here…i don´t think i will stop doing them and there are so many characters to do…

…i just hope, maybe mattel sees them and will think about buying the filmation licence…there are so many figures people would love to have

so, thx again and i´m going back to the drawing board

    Cool stuff!
This Carnivus looks so very much like a vintage version would have. It makes me impressed by the artwork, and even thr Horsemen for pushing the character a bit farther than we would have expected

These are all very intelligently thought out, each one requiring so little in tooling costs. I really like Evilseed, I don't know enough about the character to care if he looks right. I demand he be scented! I was pleasantly surprised by the choice to make a Meteorb a human shape.

Since the artwork digital, he can keep going as new parts are released, and even update his older designs.

@Poe – Did you show the teaser pic of Grizzlor's back from Friday?

  3. @Onigaijan:

I was thinking of just using him as my Poison Ivy's henchman, lol.

  4. This guy did the impossible: He made the meteorobs look kind of cool. I liked most of the designs, but didn’t care for the evilseed one. He’s too bulky for my tastes. Evilseed needs to be thin, like a vine, not looking like he’s on steriods. If the Horsemen were ever to do him, i think i’d prefer one more similar to the 2000 series. Loved the vine accessory, though.

I saw this image a few days before Carnivus was revealed. He is pretty darn close! I'm glad they didn't re-use Randor's armor, though if done in this color scheme, it would have looked pretty awesome.

I'm curious if they will be reusing the armor for Jitsu. They have shown us how they'll stick to the original figures, but also seem to deviate when it it suits them or its called for.

  6. Whoa, that purple guy and Evilseed are sweet-looking, I'd definitely save-up to buy those things.
