Don’t forget – or, find out for the first time – September 4 is “Bring Your Man-E-Faces To Work” Day, a tradition started by several NECA sculptors last year. They note it’s “just a fun way to celebrate our enthusiasm for the MOTU line as well as the one character we can all agree on owning. It’s all about Man-E-Faces.” Take photos of your MEF at work and post them on the Facebook page!
This week’s assignment for The League:
Who would you take in an 80′s character fantasy draft? Your team’s goal will be to defeat a shady conglomerate of Russian businessmen and their team of hired ninjas. It’s go time.
I skipped most of the obvious candidates for this assignment. He-Man, Snake Eyes, the Thundercats – any of these guys could eat a bunch of ninjas for breakfast, so there didn’t seem to be much fun in that. Instead, I decided to put together a sort of heist group using talented but not necessarily super-powered cartoon characters from the 1980s. (more…)
Sir Laser Lot is the latest addition to the Masters of the Universe 30th Anniversary subscription. The character was created and designed by comic book writer Geoff Johns, who successfully revamped DC’s Green Lantern line of comics earlier in the decade and is currently shaping the development of the New 52. I once interviewed Johns for PGPoA, which you can read here. Sir Laser-Lot has also played a role in the new comics produced separately by Mattel (as minicomics packaged with toys) and DC’s MOTU comic.

Brian will be posting regular updates on his site, so you can see how well or terrible I’m doing. To make it easier for everyone to know who they’re playing we mostly named our teams after ourselves – otherwise I would totally have gone with the Touchdown Terrors.
I’ve recently joined Coolandcollected.com‘s “League of Extraordinary Bloggers.” The idea is that once a week there’s a topic, and you write up a post on that topic.
