The Four Horsemen are taking all of my money
The Four Horsemen will be robbing me blind this year.
So, all the big toy news has come out of the New York Comic Con, and I think it’s safe to say Mattel stole the show. (more…)
Batman vs. Predator: Old Scores #2
Driven batty
Got a few spare minutes here, thought I’d post…just for fun, really.
As I’ve mentioned elsewhere, I tend to prefer a single action figure of a character in his “iconic” look, rather than a number of costume variations. This is because I view my toys not as collectibles but as characters, and to have two Batmen next to each other, well, it breaks the illusion that he’s Batman and not just a toy. (more…)
Comic > Batman vs. Predator: Old Scores #1
I thought I’d give a non-humorous figure comic a try. I’m hoping/planning to make more–I have an idea for a whole storyline.

For the purposes of this comic, the only “canonical” texts are the first Predator film and the first Batman vs. Predator miniseries–all other comics and movies involving the Predator are ignored. As for when it’s supposed to take place in DC continuity–I don’t really care. By including the miniseries as history I’ve already placed it outside the DC canon anyway.
Ask Mattel > 4/2/08
We’re back with another round of questions for Mattel’s “ToyGuru.” (I tried to think of a particularly nerdy question for Paul to mock, but I kept coming up blank.)
PG: The second wave of DC Universe Classics appeared at Targets across the country several weeks earlier than they arrived at other retailers, including online retailers. Was this a one-time occurrence, or should those who pre-order the figures from online retailers generally expect to receive their figures some time after they appear at retail? (more…)
Odds ‘n Ends > Impatient Edition
ODD: DCUC Wave Two is hitting all over the country, but not the online retailer I pre-ordered it from. I don’t blame the retailer for that–nor Mattel, frankly. Wave One arrived at the online retailers before it hit the brick and mortar stores, so there doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. And considering the speed and tenacity of the local scalpers, I’m still better off waiting for my full set to ship than wasting gas money driving around to Targets and Wal-Marts to get one or two figures. But still…patience is not one of my more practiced virtues. (more…)
Poe’s Point > Top Five Most Anticipated Movie Toy Lines of 2008
Yeah, I could write a list of my most anticipated movies this year–and there are quite a few–but to stay more on-topic, I decided to list what I think are the five most anticipated action figure lines based on movies this year among collectors. Note, these aren’t listed in the order I’m anticipating them, but on how much I think the collector community is. (more…)
A tribute to Batman: Year One, pp. 61-62
Odds ‘n Ends > Ennui Edition
ODD: With what seems like surprising rapidity (given my past experience with such projects), tomorrow will see the debut of a brand-new PGPoA webcomic, The Toybox, written by yours truly and drawn by Red Kryptonite, the talented artist responsible for the graphics on this site. You can expect to see a new Toybox every other Wednesday. (more…)
