Keldor Swords are coming
Never let it be said that constant campaigning doesn’t bear fruit:
But hey, to leave on a good note, we did just have our meeting with management to go over the 2012 line. We also discussed the 200X head design and weapon design direction. While we are still not going to explore 200X redesigned character heads in the online line, I did get some sway on the weapons and we are going to now find a way to do the “Keldor Swords” in Classic style. (despite what people say I am in there fighting the good fight!).
This isn’t indicitive of “rules changing”, I just made the case that enough fans want these and it doesn’t indicate a changed character design. So hey, chalk one up for a fan demand victory!
I was going to save this announcement for NYTF, but hey, you guy wanted a He-Man.org news break, there you go!
Mo-Larr encore sale today
Mattycollector is having an encore sale of the Mo-Larr set today (at 12pm ET) in honor of Sunday’s premiere of the new Robot Chicken season. (Direct link to the set.) They’ve also released a pair of behind-the-scenes videos about the development of the set. (Video 1) (Video 2)
The second RC episode of the season, on January 16, will reveal the secret original of Mo-Larr.
Odds ‘n Ends > Procrastination
- Man, I still have so much stuff to get through…reviews of Buzz-Off, King Grayskull, the Outer Space Men, the new NECA Alien vs. Predator 2-pack, the second Weapons Pak, a few Retro Action figures, and a few other surprises…
- PGPoA was included in a list of the “Top 40 Doll Collecting Blogs” on the website OnlineCollege.org. Fellow blogger Newton Gimmick of Infinite Hollywood also made the list. I won’t bother with the whole “action figures aren’t dolls” thing, mostly because I’m not that self-deluded, and will just be happy with the publicity.
- I haven’t updated about or even mentioned the big news that THQ picked up the general Mattel license. Of course, the only salient question for most of us is whether we’ll see a MOTU videogame. I say it’s unlikely except in a movie year, unless we’re talking some sort of XBLA game (perhaps a 2D fighter or a TMNT Arcade-style brawler?). But at least THQ didn’t say no outright, and I know for a fact there are some THQ employees who are MOTU fans and will push for a game.
- You’re all following the daily updates about Scarabus from the Four Horsemen, right? Man, if they can get the QC on these things on par with Xetheus (as opposed to the various Ramathorr variants), they’ll be incredible action figures.
- Speaking of the Horsemen, this looks interesting.
- I watched Predators last night, and really enjoyed it. It’s incredibly faithful to the original film…perhaps a bit too much so, to be honest…but it’s fun and pretty well acted, and features the craziest and possibly best Laurence Fishburne performance in a career full of crazy performances. He’s come a long way since Cowboy Curtis…like 80 pounds long, I think. But still the movie wa–WHY THE HELL DID I COME ACROSS THIS WHEN DOING A SEARCH FOR COWBOY CURTIS IMAGES? What is WRONG with people?! The horror, the horror…(quick, connect that quote back to Laurence Fishburne!)
He-Man: Buy the Power of Grayskull
Man this is hilarious. Well done, sirs!
Thanks to Mecha-Shiva for sending me this link weeks ago, though I only watched it last night for the first time. Yes, I’m that lazy busy.

Mattel unveils Panthor, King Hiss, & DCUC17
I’m officially on vacation, so posts are going to be a bit sporadic over the next couple of weeks. For those of you who don’t bother with other websites for news, though, I thought I’d better post some of the stuff Mattel has been unveiling on their Facebook page recently.
Pics after the jump. Click any of the pics for a larger version. (more…)
Joe Amaro makes more stuff we all wish we could buy
Joe Amaro is a customizer who enjoys making things we all wish we could actually own ourselves…his latest creation is Skeletor’s Throne of Bones, MOTUC-style. Click here for more pics to hate him for.
Oh, and Mattel? MAKE THIS. MAKE IT MAKE IT MAKE IT.
Review > Eternian Palace Guards (Masters of the Universe Classics)
So, I came home last week to discover a rather large box from Mattel on my doorstep. And what was inside? Toys, of course! Wonderful, wonderful toys! Including the 12″ Christopher Reeves Superman, the Gentleman Ghost/Hawkgirl and Superman/Parasite 2-packs, several of the Retro Action DC and Ghostbusters figures, and perhaps best of all, the Eternian Palace Guards!
Which means that, for the first time ever, you get an official PGPoA review of a MOTUC product before you can actually buy it. I have no idea whether this is a one-time deal or will become an ongoing thing. In any event, I’ll be reviewing everything over the next few weeks, starting with the Guards today.
“Army builder” action figures are figures of generic characters, often in uniform, who can be bought in bulk without making it look like you have a dozen of the same exact person. The classic example is the Star Wars Stormtrooper, and good lord there are collectors out there with a lot of Stormtroopers. In the vintage Masters of the Universe line, the only real army builder figure was the Horde Trooper. But after a big year of firsts for MOTUC–Battle Cat, Tytus, and 200X-created characters like Chief Carnivus, Mattel wraps it up with their first Army Builder 2-Pack. The set was scheduled to go on sale in December, but it’s been delayed to January. It will sell for $40. (more…)
Ask Mattel > Answers for Mid-December
1.) Now that double jointed elbows and knees are starting to appear in DCUC, there’s one character who greatly deserves them: Batman. Is there any chance we could see a new version of Batman with these joints?
Right now we don’t have plans to go back to older figures and upgrade them with new articulation, but it is always possible down the road!
2.) barbecue17 asks: Is is possible that we could see a Teela figure in pink armor that would benefit charity breast cancer research? (more…)
