Faceless One on…Facebook.

Yeah, so, here’s the Faceless One, a.k.a. Nikolas Powers. It’s not stated on the bio, but I assume Danger’s his middle name. I color-corrected the images from the original post while wondering why Mattel didn’t do the same.

An interesting thing about the Faceless One is how similar he is to the Dormant Form Scarabus (and, of course, suffers a bit from the comparison, however much you take into account MOTUC’s consciously retro style).

I’m a bit more excited about the Faceless One than I was about Chief Carnivus, when it comes to the 200X-specific characters, but only because I like the design more.

This bio is good. That's surprising to me for a few reasons. First, I'm a fan of the MVC comics but I hated the time traveling aspect of the Facelesss one's story a lot in that comic.

I generally dislike time travel stories. As someone on the org said, I feel the past should influence the future and not the other way around. In the MVC story Keldor is in the past and he takes Evil Lyn to the future as an infant. That gives a very creepy Pedo Bear aspect to Keldor and Evil Lyn's relationship that I didn't like.

Second, the only point of having Keldor in the past at all was to give him the Havoc staff. He could have easily gotten that in the future. It was pointless.

Third, by having He-Ro defy the council and help the Faceless One save his daughter it gives He-Ro a sense of independence and compassion the council seemingly lacks. It makes me like He-Ro for the first time ever. That's impressive.

I still don't like time travel, but this bio makes it palatable.

    Good job Mattel.

Also as has been pointed out above, this bio is mostly from the MVC comics and not the MYP cartoon series. Larry DiTillio who created the Faceless One for the MYP cartoon was asked in one of the commentaries about the MVC comic origin and he stated that wasn't what he would have done with the character. I'm curious what he would have done instead.
