DCUC and MOTUC first looks
Our apartment was flooded last week, which is make the updates pretty sporadic for a bit. I won’t be able to review Winston Zeddemore or DCUC Man-Bat until next week at the earliest, along with the Spongebob Squarepants figures I found on clearance at Target that no one ever even told me existed. Thanks, everyone. BTW, I still need most of them, so if you see any aside from Karate Spongebob or Sandy Cheeks, pick ’em up for me and I’ll happily reimburse you for your trouble.
Anyway, to give you something to yak about today, here are some Fwoosh first looks of DCUC 12 and Battle Armor He-Man, as well as a video review of Battle Cat by He-Man.org’s Pixel Dan.
AFT previews Battle Cat
Every so often, Action Figure Times catches my attention with a preview of some desired figure. That Captain Collector sure has some good connections. He has the Web’s first look at a production Battle Cat. The toy looks great–and it certainly dwarfs the 200X Battle Cat (no pics with the original BC, sadly). I try to tone down the hyperbole on this site–which I like to think helps my credibility–but I think we can safely say MOTUC Battle Cat will be the toy equivalent of everlasting peace in the Middle East.
Note that the “sword holders” on either side of the front legs appear to be stirrups–which raises a question: why didn’t Captain Collector take a photo with He-Man on Battle Cat? Or any MOTUC figure, for that matter? We know he owns some.
AFT also has a good look at (part of) the new DCUC Darkseid and a few other figures. I think a lot of fans are going to be very happy with that Darkseid.
EE’s got new DCUC
Entertainment Earth has these figures in stock now:
They also have DCUC Wave 13 up for preorder, along with lots of other DCUC goodness. Order now and let the post office do all the driving around!

1.) Some collectors received Scareglows with QC issues (such as two left legs), or missing either the key or the entire reliquary. The response from customer service was that there are no replacement Scareglows available, only refunds. In the past, you’ve made it clear that a small percentage of each figure’s production run was held back for exchanges. Why has this changed, and will the option to exchange return? It’s badly needed when collectors aren’t able to check the figures before purchasing.
Faulty figures can be exchanged by contacting customer service through Mattycollector.com.

- and more (note: the sale date for the Retro-Action DC Super Heroes Green Arrow was pushed back to December 23)
Here’s a link to the all-in-one order page.
Why the flood of items in December? I dunno…maybe it’s for tax reasons or something. Incidentally, if you look to the sidebar you’ll notice I added a small at-a-glance Mattycollector calendar.
I’m definitely getting Randor, the Goddess, and Winston. I thought about the Skeletor reissue, but changed my mind when I found out that the “tighter grip” left hand is actually just the same hand with slightly more curled fingers–rather than the Zodac/Webstor hand, which is what I thought it would be. UPDATE: the word from Matty himself is that figure WILL have the Zodac/Webstor left hand. Which means I’ll be getting him.
Anyway, use this post as a discussion thread for all things Matty. The next Q&A should be up sometime later today.
Also: sign me up for a MOTUC Santa Claus.
The Annual Interview with the Four Horsemen
In what has happily become an annual tradition here at PGPoA, the Four Horsemen graciously agreed to answer a few of my questions about DC Universe Classics, Masters of the Universe Classics and their own FANtastic Exclusive figures. Read on to get the latest from Santa’s not-so-little helpers, Chris Dahlberg, Eric Treadaway, Jim Preziosi, and H. Eric “Cornboy” Mayse. (more…)
Mattel Answers for December 1

1.) Tom-Tom asks: How expensive would it be in the short run to switch to an alternative-source plastic like Thermoplastic starch biodegradable plastics? That way, there’d be lower production costs and lower MSRPs in the long run.
A cool suggestion but not something logistically we can switch to.
DCUC’s pain in the neck
NoisyDVL5 of ItsAllTrue.net has posted an interesting update to his DCUC ball-joint neck post, showing that the double barbell peg used for earlier waves has been replaced by a triple barbell peg that’s anchored in the chest. This appears to be the cause of the disappearing DCUC ball joint neck. I’m going to post about it here, but all credit goes to Noisy for chasing this story, and you should be sure to read his post.
Ask Mattel Answers for Mid-November

1.) Zach asks: In 2010, could we please see an end to the in-package posing of figures in DCUC? I just bought four wave 10 figures yesterday and ALL of their legs have been severely warped to the point of looking like they were bent. The aesthetic, to me, is lost and the figures look way less cool than a 4HM sculpted figure ought to. Perhaps, in an effort to showcase their articulation and pose-ability, you could showcase pics of dynamic poses on the package instead?
I do hear you on this one, but there are sometimes just as many fans who like the dynamic pack out. At the moment the plan is to continue these packs out to add to the excitement on shelf.
