Welcome to another round of Ask Mattel here at PGPoA. Let’s get right into it…
Poe Ghostal: Will the Lobo SDCC exclusive be produced in at least the same numbers as Man-Bat last year?
Mattel’s “ToyGuru”: Sorry, but we can’t comment on the production run of any of our exclusives!
When should collectors start keeping an eye out [...]

It’s safe to say DC Universe Classics is my favorite toy line of the moment–and for the foreseeable future. Some have hailed it as Super Powers redux, and with its excellent renditions of the SP-era Lex Luthor and Brainiac, it’s hard to argue with that logic. But DCUC is more than a nostalgia line; with [...]

I was going to write this up as a Poe’s Point, but I realized I hadn’t really come to any sort of opinion on the issue–at least, not enough for an editorial.
Buried at the bottom of a TNI news article about Diamond Select Toys’ plans for its popular Minimates line was this bit of information:
[...]

American pop culture nostalgia tends to go through generational cycles. In the 1970s, everyone watched Happy Days; in the 1990s we had another Woodstock; in the early “naughts” we had That ’70s Show.
The same holds true for toys. In the 1990s, there was a resurgence of popularity for Mego and Star Wars, lines whose heyday [...]

ODD: T.S. Eliot’s famous poem The Waste Land begins with the lines, “April is the cruellest month, breeding / Lilacs out of the dead land, mixing / Memory and desire, stirring / Dull roots with spring rain.” One interpretation of this is while the cold winter keeps us numb and forgetful, the regeneration that comes [...]

The Four Horsemen will be robbing me blind this year.
So, all the big toy news has come out of the New York Comic Con, and I think it’s safe to say Mattel stole the show.

Man, busy day here on PGPoA. For those of you who get these missives via an RSS feed, I apologize for all the new items–but this couldn’t wait.
The New York Comic Con is this weekend, and Mattel has been hinting that they’ll be revealing all sorts of DC-related goodness at their Saturday panel. But to [...]

I went on at length about my love for DCUC in my review of wave one, so this time around, we’ll get right to the reviews and photos. Suffice to say, wave two is just as awesome as wave one, and maybe even better.

We’re back with another round of questions for Mattel’s “ToyGuru.” (I tried to think of a particularly nerdy question for Paul to mock, but I kept coming up blank.)
PG: The second wave of DC Universe Classics appeared at Targets across the country several weeks earlier than they arrived at other retailers, including online retailers. Was [...]

As you can see by my Flickr photostream, I did indeed–finally–get my second wave of DCUC figures, though it required a trip to the local UPS warehouse after hours. My thanks to Cornerstorecomics for their prompt shipping and excellent customer service.
As for the wait, at least Mattel is being honest about wave three and telling [...]
