Merman ordered but now waiting for the processing. "waiting is the hardest part"

  2. Griffin

I called and canceled one, and the representative said they were both completed orders, but I still don't have a confirmation email, and the orders still say that they're processing. Whatever.

@Valo- I've noticed that on the facebook page mostly with the Gleek debacle, but this is usually a safehaven for complaints without too much flak. I'll be careful though.

  3. Frogster

I had 3 separate charges, so I called and cancelled the other two. The Matty site was just insane, and you had no idea if your inital order went through or not, since it wouldn't process initially.

  4. Valo487

I finally got someone on the phone about my double charge, and they were helpful, and told me that since it sold out and I only got one order confirmation the charge should reverse itself, as it's just an authorization hold and when it is not fulfilled will be removed. I hope this helps anyone with similar issues, as waiting for them to answer the phone all day was no picnic.

  5. Poe

Yeah, definitely, PT. Still, I'm kind of amazed it happened…this line really is popular.

  6. I think we knew this was going to happen. They've been telling us that the first batch of Mer-Man was going to sell out fast, and that they would have a second batch following in a couple of weeks. I think everyone finally caught on and tried to order theirs at noon, which of course their server could not handle.

  7. Oh yeah. I'm not sure if "happy" is all that appropriate.

  8. I finally have a confirmation e-mail, so it looks like one of the multiple orders I attempted actually made it through.

What are the chances that these problems will be fixed more May 15?

  9. Valo487

Be careful what you say, I've been reading a discussion over at AFI about that and the one guy who is saying the same thing is getting attacked by a couple people over that very statement, apparently somehow it's not Mattel's fault that THEIR site can't accommodate THEIR customers. Sigh, I can't decide who's worse, the irrational complainers or the pompous few who spend their day talking down to everyone who disagrees with them.

  10. Griffin

So I have two seperate orders with seperate shipping right now, but nary a confirmation email, so I will either be getting two, one of which I will try to cancel or at least combine shipping, or none which is worse. sigh, why couldn't Mattel have foreseen the ungodly amount of hits they would get and increase their bandwidth.

  11. Valo487

I just think it's comical that they compare the DC lines to MOTUC as far as sales go. Is this really what they want for all their products? Selling out is all well and good but the amount of technical issues as well as the sheer frustration they cause their own fans? Personally I'm glad this is the only line I collect like this, it would get real old, real quick.

  12. Jim

I agree Phoenix. I think it will get worse but that's because I believe Mattel likes the publicity. It's irritating…truely annoying as a collector but I got to hand it to Mattel…it is a good sure fire way to make sure their products sell out instantly and make profits at the same time.

  13. Motorthing

Well that was 52 minutes of sheer panic followed by the relief of actually securing a confirmation email at the death. I had to go through my order history to get back to the cart page that it kept telling me was empty – only then did an order run through all the stages.

This is not the way 21st Centuary retailing is supposed to work….

And yeah I do feel for anyone else that couldn't get it to work. These things are freakin expensive enough and come with enough qc and shipping problems as is but if you can't actually buy them when you show up at the appointed hour then screw Matty.

  14. Phoenix

I feel this line is just going to get worse unless the people at Mattel can pull their heads out of their @$$e$! Collecting isn't always fun and easy but they need to get more product out there. It's obvious they're making money and will continue to do so!

I'm dreading the future releases of more popular characters. Especially the female characters. They were the worst to find in the 2002 line! I had to buy Evil-Lyn and Teela on ebay. I really want a He-Ro figure and I'm sure I'll have to get him on ebay as well.

I think the limit should be 3 per person. 10 is too much!

  15. Jim

Due to the poor economy, I've decided to hold off on any of the classics. It was tempting since I live near the shipping plant for MOTUC and get it next day after ordering online but…..man, times are really tough. I think I'll just wait for the 2002 versions or the live action movie versions (won't hold my breathe though). I like the more realistic interpretations of the characters.

    The line is great though!

  16. Jim

I believe it's scalpers. That's why they sold out in less than an hour. A lot of fans exist but less than an hour is a bit far fetched for a line to sell out just from fans.

UNLESS….mattel's making super low quantities and not upping the numbers enough.

  17. Poe

    "Getting" ugly? Getting uglier, maybe…

  18. Nicholai

Things are getting ugly over at the facebook page.

  19. Scott

WOW. Sold even faster than Faker, and Mer-Man wasn't even half sold at comicon.

I would assume they had the same amount that they had for Beastman today. They said recently that all of the production runs have been about the same, with slightly more for He-Man and Skeletor. I see no reason why they wouldn't have gotten their initial order in by today, with their extra order showing up in about a week.

If anything, they may have had more of Mer-Man than the others since they didn't have to save any for replacement figures (they could just use some of the second batch for that).

  20. Poe

Sold out in just over an hour…I wish we knew how the number they had in this first shipment compared to the total Beast Men they had. Hard to tell how successful the line is without knowing the numbers better.

    Still, it's impressive.
